This key role supports the daily operations of their assigned water/wastewater treatment facility. Responsible for ensuring the safe operation of all crucial equipment through regular inspection and maintenance thereof. Assists in ensuring regulatory compliance to local, state, and federal standards.
- Perform routine scheduled maintenance at assigned facilities
- Assess problems and diagnose equipment failures
- Check the condition of lift stations as needed
- Pull motors and pumps for needed maintenance
- Flush fire hydrants and flush-outs for water quality control
- Inspect and operate gate valves
- Locate and mark distribution system facilities
- Install, relocate, and adjust meter boxes and valve cans
- Exterior maintenance of grounds and buildings including lawn and landscaping
- Assist with water and wastewater line repairs and other work as directed
- Always ensure the cleanliness and safety of the facility
- Submit orders necessary supplies
- Fulfill customer work orders as required
- Read customer water meters at assigned intervals in the assigned area of responsibility
- Maintain a daily maintenance log for regulatory requirements
- All other duties as assigned
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- OSHA safety training is a plus
- Valid driver’s license
- Experience operating large machinery preferred (backhoes, trenchers, large lawn equipment)
- Ability to work in extreme weather conditions
- Ability to lift heavy objects of up to 75 pounds
- Exposure to potential hazards such as chemicals, fumes, and odors
- Will work in confined spaces
- Willingness to be on call in emergency situations
