Water Utility Management is looking for a technician to join our team in our Wastewater Dept. The rate of pay starts at $24+/hr, depending on experience!
- Operate and monitor wastewater treatment facilities, lift stations, and collection systems, including pumps, aerators, chemical feed systems, and jet pumps.
- Collect samples and perform routine process control testing to support permit and regulatory compliance.
- Complete accurate daily logs, operational reports, and required regulatory documentation.
- Perform and assist with preventive and corrective maintenance on mechanical, electrical, and pumping equipment.
- Inspect, clean, and maintain facilities and grounds to Company standards.
- Assist with installation, inspection, and location/marking of sewer lines and services; respond to utility locate requests.
- Participate in an on-call rotation and respond to after-hours alarms, equipment failures, and collection system issues.
- Follow all safety procedures (including PPE, OSHA, confined space, and lockout/tagout) and maintain a safe work environment.
- Communicate effectively with the Wastewater Manager, report issues, and recommend repairs or process improvements.
- Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and provide feedback for updates; perform other related duties as assigned.
Must be able to use all appropriate PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) when performing tasks.
- Ability to use pump related equipment, electrical equipment, pneumatic equipment, chain saw, shovels, rakes, face shields, gloves and other equipment as needed.
- Familiar with diagnostic instruments and ability to test, calibrate and repair complex devices and equipment.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Georgia Class III Wastewater Treatment Certification or higher preferred.
WUM will help employees obtain certifications.
- A valid drivers license
- High School Diploma or GED
- Familiarity with Microsoft Outlook and Windows Explorer, Word, and Excel a plus.
- Previous outdoor experience such as a construction worker, plumber, etc would be helpful in this role
- Ability to perform duties in a responsible manner with minimal supervision
