Job Overview

The Warehouse Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the yard, ensuring efficient management of inventory, logistics, and transportation processes. This role requires a strong focus on continuous improvement and operational excellence while maintaining safety standards. The Yard Manager will lead a team, manage resources effectively, and implement strategies to optimize yard operations.

Duties

- Oversees the efficient and safe flow of materials and products within the warehouse and yard.

- Ensuring smooth operations, inventory accuracy, and adherence to safety regulations.

- This role involves managing staff, coordinating logistics, and implementing procedures to optimize productivity and minimize costs.

- Supervising daily warehouse and yard activities, including receiving, storing, picking, packing, and shipping steel products.

- Managing inventory, ensuring accuracy, and minimizing discrepancies.

- Coordinating the movement of materials and equipment using forklifts.

- Assigning tasks, scheduling workloads, and monitoring employee performance.

- Training and onboarding new employees on warehouse procedures, safety protocols, and equipment operation.

- Fostering a positive and productive work environment.

- Enforcing safety regulations and ensuring compliance with all relevant laws and standards.

- Conducting regular safety inspections and audits to identify and address potential hazards.

- Maintaining a safe and healthy work environment.

- Developing and implementing strategies to optimize warehouse layout and workflow.

- Managing shipping and transportation logistics.

- Monitoring stock levels and identifying potential shortages or overstock situations.

- Implementing inventory control procedures to minimize waste and maximize efficiency.

- Analyzing data and identifying areas for improvement.

- Communicating effectively with team members, other departments, and external stakeholders.

- Providing regular updates on warehouse operations to management.

Skills

- Experience in process improvement initiatives and continuous improvement practices.

- Background in warehouse supervision, including inventory management and order fulfillment.

- Knowledge of logistics, supply chain, freight shipping & receiving, and warehouse distribution processes.

- Familiarity with materials management, production planning, and demand planning strategies.

- Ability to lead a team effectively with strong supervising experience.

- Forklift operation experience is preferred for managing yard activities. The ideal candidate will possess a combination of technical knowledge, leadership skills, and a commitment to operational excellence. This position is critical for ensuring the smooth functioning of yard operations within the organization.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $25.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
