The Warehouse Coordinator controls warehouse inventory; i.e. CAUS owned tooling, line material & supplies. The Warehouse Coordinator is responsible for ensuring that all tooling is tracked, receives servicing and re-calibration as required, and is issued to and received from forepersons in accordance with CAUS’s standard procedures. The Warehouse Coordinator is required to keep an inventory of all surplus line material (hardware, insulators, fuses etc.), which may be used for construction. Coordinating with Operations and Project Development, the Warehouse Coordinator is responsible for sourcing and purchasing any overhead items that are required to maintain an adequate supply of tooling & supplies for construction.
- Work with project staff to analyze tooling requirements for jobs;
- Source tooling, safety supplies, general and specialized equipment;
- Verify tooling purchase requests sourced by colleagues by comparing items requested to master list, clarify unclear items and recommend alternatives where necessary by obtaining recommendations from suppliers.
- Issue requisitions to suppliers for overhead purchases.
- Organize and maintain CAUS’s warehouse such that all tooling and material are effectively and efficiently stored as required.
- Coordinate with the Fleet staff to organize and maintain CAUS’s outdoor storage facilities.
- Establish and execute logistics of shipments to and from project sites and other CAUS warehouses.
- Verify receipt of items at warehouses.
- Monitors inventory by completing stock counts as required.
- Organize and maintain computerized records of inventories in the NetSuite Data System.
- Order fire retardant (FR) clothing for field employees and track their allowance balances, coordinating deductions with payroll when any overages occur.
- Maintain stock of shirts and coveralls to issue to field employees annually in accordance with their collective bargaining agreement.
- Occasionally review project Bill of Materials with the project staff to ensure completeness and suggest alternative parts as required.
- Occasionally travel to sites upon project start-up to help set up the project warehouses and yards and implement CAUS’s procedures for inventory management, shipping and receiving and logistics.
- Work closely with the IT department and local computer repair company, assisting with sending out and receiving/setting up new and replacement phones, tablets and laptops;
- Mentor project material management staff as required; and,
Adhere to all CAUS workplace policies, standards, procedures, and safe work practices.
- Minimum of five (5) years in a warehouse/material coordination role or extensive experience in the powerline trade;
- Ability to plan, troubleshoot and implement continuous improvement efforts;
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to successfully manage competing priorities in order to meet deadlines;
- High attention to detail;
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with a focus on customer service;
- Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite and experience with NetSuite would be an asset;
- Forklift training certification would be an asset;
- Valid drivers licence required; and,
- Experience in the electrical construction industry would be considered a strong asset.
