WHERE YOU FIT IN

We are looking for a highly motivated individual with a genuine interest in energy, technology, and a passion to deliver products for a growing company. The VP, Pricing & Structuring will be responsible for overseeing all Pricing, Structuring and Customer Historical Data Management team members and their activities. Facilitating the personnel and processes required to expedite pricing and transactional efficiency in support of all deal flow for all brokered and direct sales accounts. Also facilitates the personnel and processes required to create solutions for best fitting product structures on individual customer basis and assist in client conversations and meetings as needed.

Reporting to the Executive Team, the role requires a self-motivated, dedicated, and responsible individual with the ability to perform well under pressure.


JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Utilize deep and thorough understanding of the utility-specific nuances of PJM, ERCOT, NEISO, CAISO, MISO and NYISO markets to propose any applicable model and costing adjustments to maximize win rates and margin.
Forensically analyze cost discrepancies based on market feedback and propose recommendations as necessary, including structuring of existing products or provision of additional products configurations
In coordination with the IT Team, collaborate on the design, development and improvement of all company pricing models/systems and market analytics.
In coordination with the regulatory team, understand regulatory/policy matters at the ISO, utility, and state government level. Work with team members to proactively assess the risks and financial impacts resulting from future regulatory and protocol modifications.
Identifies critical system functionality to support all brokered and direct commercial pricing initiatives, and serve as business owner/champion of these initiatives
Collaborate with sales and operations management to devise solutions that increase probability of success and win rates
Create and manage active dialog with company risk, wholesale and sales teams, including on daily price movements, pricing/structuring throughput, strategy, and corporate compliance
Coordinates ad hoc analyses and provides relevant strategy insights as needed to company EVP’s and/or Executive team; includes targeted modeling, forecasting, and statistical analysis
Responsible for leading all internal communication on behalf of Pricing, Structuring and Customer Historical Data Management groups across the organization

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

BS/BA degree from accredited four-year college or university in Finance, Math, Economics, or other quantitative field; Master’s degree in a related field preferred
10+ years of work experience required in electricity, gas or other utility pricing and modeling
5+ years of experience with retail energy matters in a retail energy, utility or regulatory environment
Superior analytical/quantitative problem-solving skills
Expert in the use of Microsoft Excel and/or SQL; experience with Alteryx, Tableau, and/or PowerBI
Broad knowledge of electricity/gas or market structures; proactive and detailed in overseeing analytical and strategy assessments
Good communication skills, written and oral, for example ensuring sales agents are kept informed of any delays in turning around pricing requests, or outlining the rationale behind a decision not to approve credit for a customer.
Analytical mindset, demonstrate ability to problem solve and create practical solutions to overcome problems and mitigate risks.
Comfortable working in a target-driven and fast-changing environment, and able to respond to changing business needs
Excellent attention to detail
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; must be able to provide timely and accurate data analysis.
Strong business writing skills and experience developing communication in various formats.
Strong interpersonal skills.
Learner mindset and eye for continuous improvement needs.
Excellent organization and time management skills, with the ability to maintain a strict level of attention to detail.

Location and work SCHEDULE

Required to be in-person in Houston, TX or another Shell Energy office, through a hybrid workplace environment
