Position Summary:

The Vice President of Operations will oversee all aspects of Virtus Renewables’ field and technical operations nationwide, ensuring the successful execution of O&M services across utility-scale solar and battery energy storage system (BESS) assets. This executive-level role is responsible for driving strategic growth, operational excellence, safety performance, and customer satisfaction.

As a member of the executive leadership team, the VP of Operations will lead department heads, collaborate cross-functionally with Sales, Engineering, and Safety teams, and implement scalable processes that align with Virtus's long-term objectives. The ideal candidate has deep renewable energy experience, a track record of successfully managing multi-regional teams, and the leadership acumen to scale national operations efficiently and sustainably.

Key Responsibilities:

- Executive Leadership: Set and execute the vision for field operations, regional support, and technical execution across all solar and BESS sites.

- Team Management: Lead, coach, and develop directors, managers, and regional field teams, fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and operational discipline.

- Strategic Planning: Develop and refine operational strategies to support business growth, resource planning, and long-term customer success.

- Field Performance Oversight: Ensure on-time, high-quality execution of maintenance, inspections, repairs, commissioning, and emergency response activities across all active regions.

- Process Optimization: Drive standardization of operating procedures, safety protocols, QA/QC systems, and workforce development frameworks.

- Compliance & Safety Leadership: Ensure compliance with OSHA, NFPA 70E, and industry-specific standards. Promote continuous improvement in safety culture and risk mitigation.

- Budget & P&L Ownership: Manage department-wide budgets, labor forecasting, operational margins, and capital planning.

- Technology & Systems Integration: Leverage CMMS, SCADA platforms, and digital field tools to improve visibility, decision-making, and operational efficiency.

- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Business Development, Engineering, and Performance teams to ensure seamless handoffs, client alignment, and service delivery consistency.

Qualifications & Requirements:

- Minimum of 15 years of progressive leadership experience in renewable energy or related infrastructure sectors.

- Proven track record managing large-scale, multi-state solar or BESS field service operations.

- Experience building and leading distributed technical teams, including senior managers and field leadership.

- Deep knowledge of O&M best practices, safety standards, and system performance optimization.

- Demonstrated success leading change management initiatives and process transformation.

- Strong financial and operational planning skills with experience managing departmental budgets and margins.

- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.

- Willingness to travel up to 50%, including visits to job sites, key customers, and strategic meetings.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $150,000.00 - $190,000.00 per year
