Kindle is currently recruiting for the role of Vice President (VP) Operations. The position will report directly to the Chief Operating Officer and will be charged with the operational management of Blackstone power investments in the United States and Canada. Additionally, the VP Operations will play a material role in future investments and will be critical to the development and implementation of optimization plans for all future investments in power for Kindle.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Actively manage the operations of all U.S. and Canada based Blackstone owned power generation as well as portfolios asset managed by Kindle Energy, including Pelican Power, Cornerstone Generation, and Gavin Power (together the “Facilities”), and any future power generation facility acquired by Blackstone in the U.S. or Canada, with a focus on continuous improvement and minimized cost
- Be jointly responsible, working with the VP of Environmental, for the safety and environmental performance of the Facilities with zero incidents as the constant goal
- Actively lead implementation and adherence to the Kindle Operations Model
- Continuously optimize Facility operations to meet or exceed established operational and financial goals
- Develop and ensure adherence to regularly occurring detailed Facility budgets
- Assist in operational due diligence on potential acquisition targets
- Lead operational transitions related to acquisitions and divestitures of Facilities
- Lead the coordination between the Facility Operations and Kindle teams with third party O&M providers, as necessary
- Manage long-term service agreements, as necessary, with third-party service providers
- Manage equipment upgrade contracts, as necessary, with OEMs and third-party service providers
- Manage O&M agreements, as necessary, with third-party service providers
- Develop and deliver detailed presentations to Kindle management and business partners and act as the subject matter expert for operational inquiries
- Assist in procurement of all insurance programs for the Facilities to obtain cost-beneficial coverage, taking an active leadership role in presentation delivery to insurance underwriters
- Be a leader of Kindle – with focus, personal investment, accountability, and a desire for excellence
- Bachelors and/or Masters degree in engineering, MBA preferred
- Minimum of 15 years of proven experience in the energy field leading the operations of multiple generation facilities, with substantive operational and engineering knowledge of gas turbines and conventional steam facilities
- Must have an extreme focus on safety and environment-over-production
- High proficiency in effectively leading individuals and organizations in top-decile performance
- Operational experience of power generation necessary
- Must have a high level of self-awareness, motivation and ability to communicate openly and timely with team members and outside counterparties
- Advanced technical and communications skills, including exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- High proficiency in analytical and presentation tools including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and other tools
- Strong analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
