Utility Foreman – Utility Construction Division

Job Description
The Utility Foreman will be responsible for supervising crews in the construction and installation of underground utility infrastructure. This role requires a hands-on leader with experience in managing construction projects, coordinating with clients, ensuring safety compliance, and delivering quality work on time and within budget. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing tasks such as setting concrete structures, duct bank installation, cable placement, pole setting, and other related utility work.
Key Responsibilities
•Supervise and lead construction crews in the field
•Plan, schedule, and coordinate daily work activities
•Ensure compliance with safety standards, company policies, and procedures
•Interpret and work from construction drawings and project plans
•Liaise with project managers, inspectors, clients, and subcontractors
•Provide training and mentorship to crew members
•Monitor equipment and material usage on-site
•Perform hands-on tasks as needed to support project timelines
•Maintain clear documentation and daily reporting
•Conduct job hazard assessments and enforce safety practices
Qualifications
•Minimum 3–5 years of experience in utility or civil construction, with at least 1 year in a supervisory or foreman role
•Strong understanding of underground utility installation processes
•Proficient in reading and interpreting construction drawings
•Valid “G” Driver’s License or higher with a clean driving abstract
•Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions year-round
•Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
•Comfortable using digital tools for reporting, email, and communication
•Able to lift up to 70 lbs and work in physically demanding environments
•Demonstrated ability to solve problems and adapt under pressure
•Professional demeanor with a commitment to teamwork and accountability
Additional Assets (Preferred but not required)
•Safety certifications (e.g., WHMIS, First Aid, Working at Heights)
•Experience operating or supervising heavy equipment
•Familiarity with utility coordination and permitting processes
