The Shop Clerk is tasked with executing clerical and administrative responsibilities within a truck shop environment. This role involves ordering, receiving, and issuing parts inventory, as well as collaborating with internal support groups.
- Answers phone calls, takes and relays messages, and directs callers to the appropriate staff members.
- Answers inquiries by clarifying desired information, researching, locating and providing information
- Provides information and assistance regarding company information to callers.
- Ability and knowledge to perform basic bookkeeping and filing duties.
- Maintain and perform monthly inventory checks.
- Ability to write and comprehend requisitions and order, receive and issue parts
- Operate office machines, such as photocopiers and scanners, facsimile machines, voice mail systems and personal computers.
- Self-motivated, organized, detail oriented and excellent time management skills
- Sort and distribute incoming mail.
- Perform data entry accurately and efficiently.
- Responsible for issuing and tracking purchase orders.
- Regular, reliable attendance at the worksite or assigned work location
- Other duties and responsibilities related to the nature of the job may be assigned on a temporary or permanent basis as needed
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft, Excel, Word, and Outlook experience.
- Ability to write requisitions, locate and order parts.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Quick and accurate data entry skills.
- Understanding and ability to process invoices
- Able to maintain equipment maintenance files and documents (MOMS, Fleet Maintenance, etc.)
- Ability to perform and be involved in all safety training and catwalks.
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment with weekly deadlines.
- Ability to read, write and figure mathematical calculations.
- Self-motivated, organized, detail oriented and able to work without direct supervision.
- Excellent verbal, written and comprehension communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a positive attitude that fosters effective relationships
- Ability to work overtime, nights and weekends as required.
- Ability to work near, around or on light or heavy equipment.
- Lift objects of various dimensions and up to 30lbs. of weight frequently
- Ability to repeatedly climb stairs and climb ladders
- Ability to repeatedly to balance, bend from the trunk, crawl, kneel, push and pull objects
- Ability to repeatedly reach, squat and tolerate prolonged standing / walking / sitting
- Ability to walk on uneven surfaces frequently
- Ability to work in a shop atmosphere
