About This Job

Company Overview

Blue Energy’s mission is to unlock energy abundance, energy affordability, energy security, and turn-key decarbonization by developing the fastest path to deploying new nuclear MWs at scale. We are utilizing shipyard manufacturing supply chains and techniques from offshore oil and wind to reduce the cost of nuclear plants by over 60% and the manufacturing timeline to 24 months. Blue Energy is a platform technology that makes use of the latest NRC-approved reactors and is in negotiations with existing nuclear and industrial sites, enabling a much faster regulatory pathway to deploy our first unit. With our innovative centralized shipyard manufacturing approach, we can put nuclear power on a cost-reduction learning curve akin to wind, solar, and lithium-ion batteries.

Role Summary

The Transmission Manager will lead Blue Energy’s transmission strategy across multiple U.S. power markets, supporting the successful development of nuclear power projects. This role requires deep expertise in generation and load interconnection processes, grid power flow analysis, and transmission constraints in both RTO/ISO markets (including PJM, ERCOT, MISO, NYISO), SERC, and vertically integrated utility territories. The individual will serve as the company’s subject matter expert on load and generation transmission and interconnection, guiding project siting, development strategy, and regulatory engagement.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead Blue Energy’s transmission and interconnection strategy across the U.S.

- Help screen development sites to assess costs and interconnection and deliverability feasibility of generation, and potential co-located data center loads

- Manage, negotiate, and navigate interconnection queue processes and agreements, including technical, procedural, and commercial aspects and alignment with EPC and project teams

- Analyze grid power flows, constraints, and upgrade requirements to inform project siting and development.

- Collaborate with internal teams to align transmission insights with project development, permitting, and commercial strategies.

- Engage with RTOs, utilities, and regulators to advocate for project needs and ensure timely interconnection outcomes.

- Track and interpret transmission policy developments, market rule changes, and interconnection reforms.

- Build and manage external relationships with consultants, transmission planners, and engineering firms.

- Represent Blue Energy as a thought leader and subject matter expert on transmission with customers and in industry forums, working groups, and stakeholder processes.

Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or a related field.

- 6-8+ years of professional experience in transmission planning, grid interconnection, or power system operations.

- Deep understanding of interconnection processes in PJM, ERCOT, SERC and vertically integrated utilities.

- Strong technical skills in grid modelling, power flow studies, and constraint and cost analysis

- Proven ability to work across teams and communicate complex technical issues clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.

- Experience engaging with utilities, data center developers and hyperscalers, RTOs, and regulatory agencies.

Preferred Qualifications

- Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or related field.

- Prior experience supporting large-scale generation projects from early development feasibility through interconnection processes.

- Familiarity with transmission network upgrade cost assessment, congestion analysis, and market design.

- Strong understanding of LGIA negotiation, queue timelines, and grid integration risks.

- Familiarity with power flow tools such as TARA, PSS®E, PowerWorld, and PSLF.

- Strong industry network and established credibility with RTOs, Data Centers, large load customers, utilities, and regulators.

- Demonstrated leadership experience managing external consultants and cross-functional project teams.

We look forward to your application and helping foster an era of safe, clean, affordable, and abundant energy.

Blue Energy is dedicated to building a diverse and inclusive workplace. If you’re excited about this role but your experience doesn’t perfectly align with every requirement, we encourage you to apply anyway. You might be the right candidate for this or other roles at Blue Energy now or in the future.
