Job Summary

The Transmission Line Engineer designs, analyzes, and maintains high-voltage electrical infrastructure, including overhead and underground lines to ensure reliable power delivery.

Job Duties And Responsibilities

- Lead and/or support the initial project execution layout to ensure an efficient and effective project plan has been established;

- Manage engineers, drafters, and designers on small to medium sized engineering projects and interface directly with the client;

- Responsible for creating and maintaining a project schedule and budget;

- Facilitate weekly or bi-weekly project meetings to clearly outline upcoming deliverables and tasks with responsible personnel identified;

- Coordinate with clients on project status and support project meetings as necessary;

- Maintain project workflow and thorough communication across multi-discipline projects, both internal and external to the company;

- Forecast upcoming project requirements to assist in resource planning;

- Facilitate and adhere to the company and the client’s QA/QC procedure to ensure the correct personnel is performing the required QA/QC review;

- Maintain project status reports for project managers;

- Provide weekly or bi-weekly project updates and project forecasting;

- Lead and/or support Project Manager by meeting with clients, both in-person and remotely;

- Support resource forecast planning for upcoming and current project loads;

- Provide business improvement methodologies and procedures;

- Discuss project and/or department personnel conflicts, performance issues, and collaborate on a suitable approach to constructively provide a successful resolution.

Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills And Abilities)

Basic or Minimum Qualifications

- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering in a closely related discipline;

- Five (5) years of relevant post education experience in engineering discipline and prior civil design experience;

- Knowledge of civil engineering principles, practices, process, design/build, and the application to permitting and project work-related issues;

- Experience with infrastructure planning, design, and construction management; including rehabilitation and new design;

- Ability to coordinate with agency regulators and understand requirements;

- Knowledge with process and concepts for reducing and eliminating the use or generation of hazardous substances/greenhouse gas;

- Knowledge of relevant civil construction laws, codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements;

- Availability and ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously;

- Availability and ability to work overtime based on project needs;

- Experience with discipline-specific design software (i.e., MicroStation, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, ArcGIS, InRoads, Geopak, GeoSlope, ANSYS, STADD, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS).

Preferred Qualifications

- Engineer In Training Certificate

- P.E. license

- Electric utility industry experience

- Experience managing projects and leading multi-disciplined teams

- Design experience up to 230 kV

- Distribution design experience

- At least 3-years of experience using POLE, TOWER and FAD Tools software packages

- At least 3 years of experience using PLS-CADD

- Transmission line routing

- Transmission foundation design

- Transmission structure load and design

- Cost estimating and scheduling

- Experience using L-Pile and Microsoft Projects or Primavera (P6)

- 40-Hour OSHA Health & Safety Training (HAZWOPER) (29 CFR 1910.120) preferred

Working Conditions

- Work is primarily conducted in an office environment (Private or Semi-Private Office) but also requires occasional travel to off-site work locations;

- Field duties require outdoor work in a construction site type atmosphere;

- Interaction with other team members, as well as supervisors and client personnel;

- Working on a construction site or in plant and/or shop areas around production machinery with extreme noise levels

- Must be able to wear safety equipment as required by the safety department for personal protection;

- May be at more than one job site in a day and must be able to tolerate climate changes;

- May be required to travel out of town on a periodic basis.

- Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing or other communication capabilities which permits employee to communicate effectively;
