The Torque & Test Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all torqueing, pressure testing, and rig-up/rig-down operations associated with frac missiles, frac trees, blowout preventers (BOP), high-pressure iron, and low-pressure iron systems from missile to pump. This role ensures all equipment is installed, tested, and operated safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company procedures, customer specifications, and industry standards. The Supervisor provides leadership to crews, coordinates with completion and frac teams, and serves as the technical authority on location.
- Supervise and execute rig-up and rig-down of frac missiles, frac trees, BOP, high-pressure iron (15K), and low-pressure iron systems.
- Oversee proper connection from frac missile and frac tree to pump, ensuring correct flow paths, orientation, and pressure ratings.
- Direct and verify torqueing of all flanged, hammer union, and studded connections using calibrated torque equipment.
- Plan and conduct hydrostatic and pneumatic pressure tests in accordance with company and customer procedures.
- Verify test pressures, hold times, and acceptance criteria; document all results accurately.
- Ensure all iron, valves, spools, missiles, frac trees, and BOPs meet inspection and certification requirements prior to use.
- Lead pre-job safety meetings (JSA/JHA), toolbox talks, and hazard identification.
- Enforce compliance with HSE policies, stop unsafe work, and correct hazards immediately.
- Coordinate daily activities with frac supervisors, company men, and third-party service providers.
- Supervise, train, and mentor Torque & Test technicians and iron crews.
- Troubleshoot pressure integrity issues, leaks, and connection failures.
- Maintain records of torque values, pressure tests, equipment usage, and job reports.
- Ensure proper care, handling, and storage of iron and torque & test equipment.- 5+ years of oilfield experience in torque & test, iron rig-up, or completion operations.
- Strong working knowledge of frac missile systems, frac trees, BOPs, and surface iron layouts.
- Extensive experience with high-pressure (15K) and low-pressure iron from missile to pump.
- Proficient with torque equipment, test units, and pressure gauges.
- Ability to read and interpret iron layouts, P&IDs, and rig-up diagrams.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to pass background and drug screening.
