International Ordnance Tech., Inc. is seeking a dependable Tool Room Technician to support our stamping operations by maintaining, repairing, and modifying progressive dies and related tooling. This role is hands-on and fast-paced, focused on ensuring tooling is in top condition to minimize downtime on the production floor.
- Troubleshoot and repair dies pulled from press lines (e.g., damage, wear, misfeeds)
- Perform disassembly, inspection, grinding, polishing, sharpening, and reassembly of dies
- Maintain tooling inventory, spare parts, and detailed repair logs
- Set up and operate basic tool room equipment (grinders, mills, lathes, drill presses, etc.)
- Collaborate with press operators and supervisors to diagnose issues and prioritize repairs
- Modify or adjust tooling based on part changes, engineering updates, or production needs
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area in the tool room- 2+ years of experience in tool and die maintenance, die repair, or precision machining
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Knowledge of progressive dies, metal stamping processes, and tool steel
- Ability to read blueprints, part drawings, and use measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, etc.)
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills
- Able to lift 50+ lbs and perform physical tasks on the shop floor- Self-directed and able to prioritize multiple repair jobs with minimal supervision
- Familiarity with AutoCAD or similar CAD software for interpreting designs.
- Strong mathematical skills for calculations related to machining processes.
- Ability to read technical documents, schematics and blueprints effectively.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work well within a team.
