Manual Machinist is responsible for manually operating machines and producing complex production and prototype parts to high tolerance design specifications in an accurate, cost effective and timely manner.
- Operates all equipment and tools with the utmost attention to safety and professionalism.
- Able to operate Lathes, cylindrical grinders, and HBM from part set up to job completion.
- Capacity to learn thread rolling.
- Capable of reading and understanding: outside and inside micrometers, vernier calipers, vernier height and depth gauges.
- Studies blueprints, drawings, schematics, engineering information, or sample parts to determine product dimensions and tolerances as well as best method and sequence of operations needed to fabricate parts.
- Selects appropriate tools, machines, and materials to be used for machining work.
- Calculates dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and instruments such as micrometers and calipers.
- Align/secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, and materials onto machines.
- Observes and listens to operating machines or equipment in order to diagnose machine malfunctions and to determine need for adjustments or repairs.
- Fabricates and manufactures various parts using drawings or sample parts.
- Measures, examines and tests completed parts in order to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications.
- Ensures all work is performed to the highest standards of quality and safety with regards to tight machining tolerances.
- Other duties as assigned including mechanic work on various Reciprocating Compressor Components.
- Knowledge of Reciprocating Compressor Components: IE packing cases, valves, and piston and rods.
- Able to trouble shoot Reciprocating Compressor associated with packing cases, valves, piston and rods.
- Strong analytical and communication skills a must.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize daily tasks.
A minimum of 5-7 years of machining experience.
- Exerts up to 75 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 25 pounds frequently and/or up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
- Regular on-time physical attendance is required.
- Ability to stand and/or walk for prolonged periods of time and throughout the day in a machine shop environment.
- Duties require verbal communication abilities, visual acuity, accuracy in reading data, and manual coordination and dexterity in handling items and operation of equipment.
