Tool And Die Maker (Repair)

Key Responsibilities:

Tool & Die Fabrication:

- Manufacture new tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures based on engineering drawings, CAD models, and specifications.

- Set up and operate manual and CNC machines such as mills, lathes, grinders, EDM, and surface grinders to build precision tooling.

- Assemble and fit tooling components to ensure accurate function and performance.

- Collaborate with engineering to review tooling designs and provide input for manufacturability and improvements.

- Conduct test runs with completed tools/dies to ensure proper functionality and adjust as necessary.

Tool & Die Repair and Maintenance:

- Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair damaged or worn tools and dies used in production (progressive dies, blanking dies, forming dies, etc.).

- Perform preventive maintenance to extend tool and die life and reduce production downtime.

- Regrind, weld, polish, and rework tooling components to restore proper functionality.

- Document repair and maintenance activities, ensuring accurate records for tooling history.

General:

- Read and interpret complex blueprints, CAD drawings, and tooling schematics.

- Ensure all tools and dies comply with dimensional accuracy and quality standards.

- Work closely with production and maintenance teams to resolve tooling-related issues promptly.

- Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work area.

- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to tooling processes and efficiency.

Qualifications:

- High school diploma or equivalent; Certificate of Qualification as a Tool & Die Maker is preferred.

- 5+ years of hands-on experience in tool and die making and repair in a manufacturing environment.

- Proficient in operating manual and CNC machining equipment and precision measuring instruments.

- Strong understanding of metal stamping processes, die setting, and material properties.

- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings with tight tolerances.

- Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail and craftsmanship.

- Strong organizational and documentation skills.

- Ability to work independently and in a team in a fast-paced production environment.
