Tool and Die Maker

For over 45 years Travis Industries has been designing and building industry leading award winning hearth heating appliances. We are the largest privately held wood, gas, and pellet stove, insert, and fireplace company in America encompassing multiple brands; Fireplace Xtrodinair, DaVinci Custom Fireplaces, Lopi, and Fire Garden. Our products are all built in the "House of Fire", our Mukilteo Washington facility encompassing over 11 acres of manufacturing under one roof.

Position Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and reliable Tool & Die Maker to join our manufacturing team. This position plays a critical role in supporting both production and custom project needs, including the manufacturing of fireplaces and government contract work. The ideal candidate will be experienced in a wide range of manual machining operations and demonstrate a strong problem-solving mindset.

Key Responsibilities:

- Operate a variety of manual machines including bandsaws, mills, lathes, surface grinders, and other shop tools.

- Build, modify, and repair tools, dies, and fixtures according to specifications and blueprints.

- Use precision measuring tools such as calipers and micrometers to verify part dimensions.

- Collaborate with engineers and production supervisors to support fixture design and process improvements.

- Troubleshoot and resolve manufacturing issues both within and outside the traditional scope of tool and die.

- Work independently and as part of a team to meet production goals and deadlines.

- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment..

- Shift is Monday - Friday 6:00am - 2:30pm, 40 hours worked per week.

Required Qualifications:

- 3+ years of experience in tool and die making or a related machinist role.

- Proficient in reading and interpreting technical drawings and blueprints.

- Strong mechanical aptitude with demonstrated problem-solving skills.

- Effective verbal and written communication skills.

- Ability to work cross-functionally with engineering and production teams.

- Applicant must pass a pre-employment drug screen, be eligible to work in the US, be able to be on feet all day and lift up to 50lbs.

Pay: $23.00 - $28.00 per hour
