The terminal supervisor is the site leader and responsible for the safe and compliant operations of the entire terminal facility.
Graymont is seeking a Terminal Supervisor to lead its new, potentially acquired terminal. The successful candidate will act as site leader, responsible for promoting safe operations and compliance with regulatory demands for the entire terminal facility. Entrusted with the management of all day-to-day operating activities, including personnel, scheduling, efficiency, maintenance and repairs, product availability and costs.
- Actively engage and promote employee behaviors and safety with the goal of zero injuries.
- Ensure plant compliance with all internal and external health, safety, environmental and regulatory requirements.
- Work with your team, the regional operations director, and the regional operations controller to develop and implement the operating cost and capital plan.
- Continue development of a team-based approach to root cause problem solving, including self-directed work groups at the terminal, as well as participation in cross- functional teams across all Graymont functions.
- Implement and sustain Graymont's Operational Excellence System and principles.
- Work with employees to continue developing innovative initiatives to improve operational performance.
- Maintain effective relationships with employees, local communities, regulatory agencies, local elected officials, suppliers, customers and Graymont functional staff.
- Ensure the workforce is effectively developed, deployed and managed.
- Maintain the company’s assets and resources to ensure maximum long-term value and productivity.
- Contribute to the success of the Graymont by sharing information and applying internal best practices.
- Ensure the plant is staffed as needed up to 24/7 to produce Graybond and load customer orders.
- Work collaboratively across Graymont's matrix organization, promoting a one Graymont culture.
- Capability to work alongside team members in trouble
- Proven track record of developing and maintaining a safe work culture while managing multiple functions within a plant environment. A proven track record managing small to medium sized teams an asset.
- Plant operations experience (production, maintenance, quality, safety, environmental compliance).
- Able to communicate (written and oral) and present ideas and direction to employees and management.
- Able to motivate, coach and develop people in alignment with Graymont’s Vision and Values.
- Effective troubleshooting and decision-making skills. Experience in maintenance and electrical work is an asset
- Computer literate or ability to learn basic spreadsheets and programs.
- Adaptable: You are open to change and capable of adjusting to new situations and challenges with ease.
