STARTING SALARY: $ 33.02- $45.14/hourly Salary is commensurate with experience.

JOB FAMILY SUMMARY PURPOSE
Under the general direction of the Vice President-Controller, is responsible for performing various non-routine professional accounting functions to assist with special requests and projects to include: (i) supporting the preparation of financial data included in rate filing packages with the Public Utility Commission of Texas and the New Mexico Public Regulation Commission; (ii) the review of internal financial reports including those generated from general ledger subsystems; (iii) financial analysis and research, and (iv) assist the Controller with assigned special projects.
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a BBA in Accounting or a minimum of thirty (30) hours of accounting courses.
+ Certified Public Accountant preferred.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
•Professional experience in positions of increasing responsibility as an accountant or equivalent experience and education.
•Analytical and mathematical skills with working knowledge of percentages, ratios and mathematical formulas.
•Strong understanding of accounting and financial reporting principles.
•Broad knowledge of GAAP and FERC accounting procedures and reporting practices; and internal controls and related procedures.
•Proficient skills in Excel, Access, Word, Oracle, and PowerPlan.
•Must have the ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing to effectively interact with people from diverse educational, cultural and economic backgrounds.
•Ability to work independently and on multiple tasks simultaneously, comprehend and analyze technical data, and initiate appropriate courses of action on assignments.
•Ability to establish, maintain, and promote helpful, objective, courteous and professional working relationships with Management, fellow employees, and the general public.
•Must maintain a strong sense of propriety concerning confidential matters.
•Must be able to work irregular, shifts, and long hours.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
The following are essential job functions and may be accomplished in part by utilizing personal computer with input and output devices, printers, modems, Company databases, spreadsheet and word processing software, and other related department peripherals.
•Provides functional end user support of the accounting data provided from the general ledger subsystems.
•Act as a liaison between the Controller, and the Rate Department and Rate Case Managers related to issues dealing with rate case schedules, testimony and or RFIs.
•As applicable, assist with Financial Accounting, Financial Reporting, Plant Accounting, Payroll, Energy Accounting, Regulatory Accounting, Tax, IT, outside consultants, internal and external auditors on various reporting and general ledger issues.
•Research regarding accounting matters and document conclusions with a memorandum.
•Assist with the requirements of the Substantive Rules in Texas and New Mexico as they relate to schedules assigned to the Director of Financial Accounting and or sponsored by the Controller in rate case filings.
•Assist with the execution of the year end audit and benefit plan audits as well as coordination efforts with various groups (third party providers, auditors, actuaries, etc.)
•Assist the Controller with various administrative projects or other assigned special projects.
•Participate in various initiatives, projects, or other solutions related to the Company’s business and compliance requirements.
•Complies with all applicable Company policies, procedures and code of ethics as well as all applicable governmental laws and regulations to include employment, safety and environmental standards and regulations.
•Performs other related tasks that are not included but are within the context of duties defined.
