Essential job functions include, but are not limited to:
•Serve as a technical lead and mentor, providing guidance and support to early-career team members.
•Assign tasks and provide hands-on training to grounds crew staff.
•Safely operate a variety of heavy and light equipment, including tractors with mowers, dump trucks, skid steers, scissor lifts, bucket trucks, and water wagons, as well as small equipment used for vegetation management.
•Perform routine and corrective maintenance on equipment as needed, applying semi-skilled mechanical knowledge.
•Identify and resolve daily technical, operational, and organizational issues to ensure smooth workflow and efficiency.
•Make decisions within established policies and procedures that directly affect team productivity and effectiveness.
•Maintain accurate spray records to ensure compliance.
•Conduct daily briefings with the manager to review schedules, tasks, and ongoing or upcoming projects.
•Create and update work orders using the Vantage Ticketing System.
•Ensure timely communication of work progress, incidents, and issues to management.
•Lead and facilitate safety meetings and training sessions to promote a culture of safety and compliance
•Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Skills, Knowledge, Qualities:
•Basic computer skills, Excel, Word documents.
•Effective knowledge of machinery operations, specifically heavy equipment.
•Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills. Reliability and commitment to the team is critical.
•Knowledge of troubleshooting and repair procedures.
•Knowledge of handling potentially hazardous chemicals, and various state and federal laws, rules and regulations and industry practices.
•Demonstrated knowledge of safe handling practices for potentially hazardous chemicals, as well as familiarity with applicable state and federal laws, regulations, and industry standards.
Education, Training, Experience:
•High School diploma or equivalent required.
•Minimum 4 years of experience in grounds maintenance, landscaping, or a related field.
•Minimum of 1 year of Lead experience preferred
Certificates, Registrations, Licenses:
•Must have a spray license or acquire within first 2 years of employment.
•Must have a valid Oklahoma Commercial Drivers license or a valid Oklahoma Drivers license and acquire a valid Commercial Drivers license within the first 2 years of employment required.
Physical/Mental Requirements & Working Conditions:
•Must be able to stand and walk on uneven ground, slippery surfaces.
•Must be able to lift, move and carry weights of 50 lb. on a regular basis.
•Must be able to perform work outdoors in all types of weather.
•Must be able to weed eat for long periods of time.
•Required to bend, stoop, perform above shoulder work and work with arms extended.
•Consistently wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including hard hat, flame-resistant (FR) clothing, steel-toe footwear, safety goggles, hearing protection, and fall protection gear as necessary to ensure compliance with safety protocols.
Other information:
•Work is performed primarily in Langley, OK with travel to other GRDA facilities as needed.
