Technician, Distillation

Key Responsibilities:

- Operation of distillation units

- Operation of steam boilers

- Operation of cooling tower

- Responsible for wastewater facility, boiler water treatment/test

- Monitor Air compressors and nitrogen generator

- Operate 3 units under normal working conditions during a shift

- Monitor pressure and temperatures

- Ensure product quality and consistency

- Employ good practices to provide good yields and throughputs

- Fill and operate stills, vacuum pumps, process pumps; mixing and sampling materials

- Loading/unloading bulk tankers, filling drums and containers

- In-process sampling and analysis

- 1st line maintenance

- Monitoring process safety and environmental status

- Housekeeping

- Ensuring safe working practices and following all regulations, policies and procedures

- Maintain positive working relationship with all co-workers, management and customers

- Some overtime required

- Perform other assignments as required.

- 4th class operating engineer license is an asset.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

- 2-year Chemical Technologist diploma or equivalent experience.

- Able to work 3 rotating shifts in an outdoor environment: 6 am - 2 pm, 2 pm - 10 pm, and 10 pm - 6 am.

- Must be clean shaven (will have to wear a respirator during certain tasks).

- Prior chemical, manufacturing, or production experience is an asset.

- Ability to perform moderately labour intensive and repetitious tasks

- Excellent communication skills

- Planning and organizational skills

- Ability to analyze and solve problems

- Able to work independently and in a team environment
