Our incumbent is retiring, so we are seeking a Technical Inside Sales Professional – Machining Services to join our team. The successful candidate will bring a minimum of 5 years work experience from a custom machining background ideally from working in a similar role.
Strong attention to detail, prior customer service and a machining background are core requirements for this position and essential for success in this role. Experience with GIBBS CAM, an asset.
Reliable transportation to and from work is required.

GC Custom Metal Fabrication (GC) is a family owned & operated sheet metal fabrication company based in Edmonton, AB. Reporting to the General Manager, this position will take a lead role in serving as the primary point of contact for the Machining Division. Handling inquiries for machining and or fabrication only clients, assisting fabrication projects with machining requirements, and assisting the day-to-day management of the Machining Divisions; are all part of the job. Strong communication skills are essential to effectively liaise with both the GC account and the additional customers. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all information is accurately translated into action across internal workflows, resulting in a high-quality finished product that consistently meets- and aims to exceed customer expectations.
1. Managing a list of customer accounts for all services GC offers with a focus on machining sales and business development.
- Actively managing other incoming customer inquiries, identify customer needs, and provide accurate and timely information.
- Reviewing customer Request For Quotations, (RFQ) engineering drawings and technical content.
- Accurately estimating materials and labor requirements to meet customer’s scope of work.
- Coordinating with internal departments to ensure product availability and project feasibility.
- Processing incoming orders, coordinate with the shop foreman for production, while effectively managing current work orders and progress.
- Assisting GC sales team on machining requirements
- Accurately reporting and forecasting revenues from a set accounts list.
- Establishing and maintaining positive and professional customer relationships.
2. Day-to-Day assistance of managing the Machining Division, tasks include but are not limited to:
- Coordinating machine shop activities with the shop floor and shop foreman.
- Preparing documentation packages for client and shipping purposes
- Updating schedule and WIP for the Machining Division
- Occasional purchasing of tooling, consumables and materials
- Coordinating outsourcing of pre or post machining operations
- A Minimum 5 years of experience (sales and estimating) ideally from a similar role within a custom machining environment.
- A minimum of 5 years demonstrated customer service with the ability to effectively manage multiple customers.
- Post secondary education , i.e technical diploma, Machining Ticket, GIBBS CAM programing, Solidworks, considered strong assets.
- Equivalencies of overall experience and education will be considered.
- Reliable transportation required to travel to and from work as well as valid class 5 operators license.
- A high attention to detail is required with the ability to work in a structured environment while working under pressure.
- Above average and demonstrated use of Microsoft computer products is required
- Demonstrated ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, materials specifications, and customer end documents.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent time-management, organizational skills, and attention-to-detail.

- The successful candidate will require a minimium of 5 years machining background experience and prior experience with related computer software such as GIBBS CAM, ETC. Do you have prior experience with related computer software?
- The successful candidate will be required to have advanced computer knowledge in multiple Microsoft and related applications? What is your expertise with working on these computer applications?
