Team Lead, Sulfur Melter Operations
The ideal candidate will be responsible for the safe and environmentally sound day-to-day continuous production activities to support the operations of a small area/team of employees specific to the Sulfur Melter at the New Wales.
What you’ll
do:* Oversee small group of Sulfur operations hourly employees and processes in accordance with key parameters to ensure that processes, logistics and scheduling is optimized.
•Daily operations, timecard approval, attendance tracking and disciplinary recommendations.
•Help develop qualifications and testing criteria for the hourly positions, within the Sulfur area.
•Provide work direction to the team as well as timely and constructive feedback to ensure employees have a clear understanding of their work, roles, business goals and performance standards.
•Manage performance issues when necessary.
•Develop and coach employees to retain and grow organizational talent.
•Support employees in their career development at Mosaic.
•Work with operations and maintenance to troubleshoot and address operational problems in the plant to maximize production and safety.
•Assist in the implementation of process. improvements or capital projects.
•Utilize reports and facts to determine if Sulfur services are meeting internal and external customer requirements.
•Use analytical skills to forecast scheduling and/or Melting performance issues.
•Coordinate appropriate adjustments to controls as needed.
•Develop shift summary reports, monthly reports, and quality reports as needed.
•Recognize system upsets and identify operational.
•Interact with contractors as necessary to resolve issues.
•Support Sulfur operations problems through troubleshooting, maintenance work identification, follow up of work orders, and preparation for maintenance repairs.
•Maintain safe and environmentally sound operating conditions within equipment design parameters.
•Safety expert for Sulfur operations.
•Coordinate safety permits and lock outs.
•Help train the team on safety and environmental policies and procedures.
•Cascades safety & environmental new information policies/procedures to operators.
•Assist with incident investigations.
•Conduct EHS audits and inspections on a regular basis.
•Facilitate ongoing communication between shifts and management to ensure proper and efficient plant operation, product quality, allocation of resources, safety and environmental.
What you’ll need:
•Able to travel unassisted.
•High School/GED required.
•2 years related Experience.
•1 Year Fertilizer Industry.
•Strong motivational, organizational, interpersonal and communication skills in a fast- paced environment are required. Demonstrated Leadership abilities.
•2-3 years Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
•Microsoft Office Suite – Entry level.
•Knowledge of Kronos prefer.
•The ideal candidate will work outside with no protection from the weather (Heat - extreme heat/temperatures above 85 degrees for periods of more than 1 hour).
•The ideal candidate will be working within proximity to moving parts, electrical current, working on scaffolding and in high places, exposure to heat and chemicals.
•The ideal candidate is required to wear a respirator.
•Physical work environment is ascending or descending stairs, ladders, scaffolding, ramps, poles, etc., using feet and legs and/or hands and arms. Body agility is emphasized.
•Able to receive detailed information through oral communication and making fine distinctions in sound, such as when making fine adjustments on machined parts.
•Able to distinguish characteristics of objects using the eyes. Ability to receive detailed information through visual contact.
•Able to safely perform the essential functions of the job without posing a direct threat to the safety of his or her own self, or the safety of others.
•Able to work rotating shifts and overtime as required.
•Physically able to use standard safety equipment which is rated for 300 pounds or less.
