Edgewater Technical Associates is seeking qualified candidates for a Systems Engineer opportunity at the Kennedy Space Center in Merritt Island, FL.
Position Overview/Job Summary:
This position is for a Systems Engineer (SE) to lead/execute systems engineering activities including management, organization and verification of complex design requirements, within a systems engineering environment for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). The SE plays a critical role in the delivery of the Requirements Management, Configuration Management, Human Factors Engineering, and other aspects of the Systems Engineering program for work products and designs, as well as for coordination of the scope and integration of work with internal and external stakeholders. The successful candidate must have strong organizational and teamwork skills, proven problem-solving abilities, can-do attitude, and the desire to innovate designs.
Major Responsibilities:
•This position is for a Systems Engineer (SE) to lead/execute systems engineering activities including management, organization and verification of complex design requirements, within a systems engineering environment for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).
•The SE plays a critical role in the delivery of the Requirements Management, Configuration Management, Human Factors Engineering, and other aspects of the Systems Engineering program for work products and designs, as well as for coordination of the scope and integration of work with internal and external stakeholders.
•The successful candidate must have strong organizational and teamwork skills, proven problem-solving abilities, can-do attitude, and the desire to innovate designs.
•The candidate will be responsible for executing systems engineering work assignments concerned with specialized unique engineering requirements in a global business unit. This involves exploration of subject area, definition of scope, and may involve development of novel concepts, approaches, and solutions.
•The candidate will have solid experience in executing requirements management and other aspects of systems engineering along with design development experience producing design documents for government customers.
•The candidate will be interfacing and coordinating with other engineering disciplines and the client in the management and verification of the facility requirements.
•The candidate will be responsible for developing key systems engineering documents and must have a broad knowledge of industry and regulatory standards and design criteria pertinent to engineering and construction.
•In addition, it will be required that the candidate have excellent communication skills (both verbal and written) so as the effectively serve as the “face” of the Company, promoting our leadership, quality, and safety values to our external partners and stakeholders.
Additional Responsibilities (not inclusive):
•Evaluates, selects, and applies standard engineering methods, techniques, procedures and criteria, using independent judgment with limited oversight.
•Interface with the NASA client/customer on technical issue studies, resolutions, and recommendations
•Establishes means of verifying requirements implementation, including acceptance criteria
•Leads/develops system and facility design requirements documents
•Support system-level design verification, requirements verification, test requirements specification and requirements flowdown and traceability
•Develops key engineering documents related to the systems engineering discipline
•Perform model-based Systems Engineering using Innoslate by Spec Innovations, a commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) automation tool
•Performs research and documentation that establishes system operations and limits that are obtained from the review of design and basis documents and from discussions with system designers
•Performs impact analyses for proposed requirement changes
•Leads periodic assessments to validate implementation and traceability of requirements into design
•Supports maintaining Configuration Management within the Program
•Accountable for error-free deliverables
•Leads coordination with other technical disciplines in planning and executing work as an integrated team
Basic Qualifications:
•Grade 24: Bachelor’s Degree in Systems Engineering or a related field (e.g., Industrial, Mechanical, Chemical or Nuclear Engineering) from an accredited university or college with at least 3 years of relevant technical experience. In lieu of a degree, 9 years of related experience is required.
•Possess detailed understanding of Systems Engineering principles and methods, requirements management principles, and methods
•Relevant experience includes, but is not limited to, evaluating, selecting, and applying standard engineering methods, techniques, procedures, and criteria using independent judgment with limited oversight in executing a systems engineering program
•Knowledgeable of industry /regulatory codes and standards pertinent to the systems engineering discipline
•Knowledgeable of the application and coordination of systems engineering tools, such as CRADLE by 3SL, IBM® Rationale DOORS®, or Innoslate by Spec Innovations, on a program or project
•Excellent oral and written communication
•Experience with Microsoft Office programs, and other common computer programs
•United States Citizenship
Preferred Qualifications:
•Experience working with procedures meeting quality assurance programs such as ISO-9000
•International Council of Systems Engineering (INCOSE) Certification
•Experience with RAMI/FMECA analysis
•Experience with system modeling and efficiency analysis
•Familiarity with implementation of requirements in the design of complex industrial facilities
•Experience with SE implementation on projects executed for NASA or other similar government agencies
•Experience working on large, complex EPC contracts
