Summary: The Systems Engineer will play a critical role in the design, analysis, and optimization of systems for the electric, gas, and fiber operations of the cooperative. This position involves working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the reliability and efficiency of infrastructure and systems that support utility operations
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (Other duties may be assigned.)
•Develop and implement engineering solutions for electric, gas, and fiber distribution systems.
•Conduct feasibility studies and risk assessments for new projects or system enhancements.
•Create detailed specifications and engineering documentation for system components.
•Perform system modeling, simulations, and performance analysis to optimize operations.
•Identify and troubleshoot system/process waste and recommend corrective actions.
•Analyze data from system operations to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
•Manage engineering projects from inception to completion, ensuring timelines and budgets are met.
•Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and stakeholders to facilitate effective project execution.
•Prepare project reports and present findings to management and stakeholders.
•Work closely with other engineering disciplines, operations, and maintenance teams to ensure system integration.
•Provide technical support and training to staff regarding system operations and maintenance.
•Liaise with external vendors and regulatory bodies as necessary.
•Ensure all engineering practices comply with safety standards and regulations.
•Participate in safety audits and incident investigations to promote a culture of safety.
•Shall rotate as system "on call" supervisor.

Education and/or Experience
•Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field.
•Professional Engineer (PE) license is required or willingness to acquire it.
•3-5 years of relevant engineering experience in utility systems, including electric, gas, or fiber optics.
•Successful experience with Lean concepts and waste reduction
•Proficiency in engineering software and tools for system design and analysis (e.g., AutoCAD, MATLAB, or similar).
•Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on innovative solutions.
•Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
•Professional Engineer (PE) license required or willingness to acquire it.
•Relevant certifications in utility engineering or systems engineering preferred.
•Valid driver’s license required.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl or use stairways. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and high, precarious places. The employee will be required to walk over flat to uneven terrain. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet. Driving and occasional overnight travel are required.
