What We Are Looking For
GVEC is looking to hire you for the position of System Administrator – GIS to deliver the unexpected with a willingness to continuously develop yourself, your department, and our organization. As a System Administrator – GIS you will manage our ArcGIS Enterprise environment. This includes ArGIS Enterprise, Windows Server OS, updates, supporting applications and related hardware. The System Administrator – GIS is responsible for a variety of applications and services including Microsoft SQL and is required to provide problem analysis, project planning and coordination, application support, vendor management and customer support to our internal users.
You should possess a strong knowledge of Microsoft AD, SQL Administration (including Reporting Services), 365 app suite and Azure.
Your Pay
The minimum starting pay for this role is $79,000 per year plus bonuses that are tied to a multitude of organizational benchmarks set forth annually. Pay will be determined by skills, qualifications and experience.
How You’ll Help
•Administer and maintain multi-tier?ArcGIS Enterprise components (Portal, ArcGIS Server, Data Store, Web Adaptor)
•Serve as the senior technical lead on GIS data architecture, deployment strategies and Geospatial database and data administration workflows
•Implement security best practices including user roles, permissions and SSL configurations
•Develop and maintain workflows to monitor and analyze the ArcGIS Enterprise Geodatabases to identify and resolve issues as well as optimize performance and user experience
•Innovate GIS data architecture to support incorporating advanced analytics, data science and machine learning through collaboration with other teams
•Mentor GIS staff to promote technical excellence and support adoption of geospatial data standards and best practices
•Perform regular maintenance tasks such as backups, upgrades, patching and index rebuilding
•Collaborate with GIS analysts, developers and IT staff to support enterprise GIS applications
•Document system configurations, procedures, workflows and disaster recovery procedures
•Automate administrative tasks using Python (ArcPy) or REST API scripting
•Perform off-hours scheduled maintenance, on-call rotation and support to 24x7 business for mission critical systems
•Share technical expertise by providing cross-training to peers
•Participate in Helpdesk level 2 support
•Provide support for other projects and duties as assigned
Experience/Skills You’ll Need
•Bachelor’s degree in GIS, Computer Science, Information Systems or related field
•3+ years of demonstrated expertise in administering ArcGIS Enterprise Geodatabases as part of an ArcGIS Enterprise multi-tiered system to include servers, portals, application infrastructure and external data or systems integrations
•Strong understanding of ArcGIS Server, Portal for ArcGIS and ArcGIS Data Store
•Experience with enterprise geodatabases (SDE) and SQL Server/PostgreSQL
•Familiarity with ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online and Esri’s REST API
•Proficiency in scripting (Python, PowerShell) for automation and maintenance
•Knowledge of IT infrastructure, networking and security principles
•Advanced knowledge of Windows Server installation, maintenance and troubleshooting
•Familiarity with virtualization technologies, preferably VMWare
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to convey information clearly and confidently
•Excellent problem-solving skills; able to effectively troubleshoot issues independently
•Demonstrated ability to effectively evaluate and manage conflicting priorities
•Self-motivated individual with a strong work ethic - able to work independently with an impeccable sense of honesty and integrity
•Team player with the resolve to provide and take constructive criticism that helps evolve the team
Preferred Experience/Skills
•Esri Technical Certification (e.g., ArcGIS Enterprise Administration Professional)
•Experience with high-availability and disaster recovery configurations
•Experience with monitoring tools (e.g., ArcGIS Monitor, CheckMK)
•Proficient in SQL DR strategies including Availability Groups, Mirroring, Log Shipping and maintenance plans
