About The Role

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Diesel Mechanic to join our team at Excel Mining. The successful candidate will be responsible for the inspection, maintenance, and repair of a diverse fleet of equipment, ensuring safe and reliable operation to support continuous mine and plant production. A mechanic's service truck will be provided to the selected candidate.

Key Responsibilities

- Perform preventative maintenance and repair work on a variety of surface equipment, including dozers, loaders, forklifts, skid steers, compactors, service trucks, and light-duty gasoline vehicles.

- Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues using advanced troubleshooting methods.

- Maintain accurate service and repair records in compliance with company and regulatory requirements.

- Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns to minimize downtime and support operational needs.

- Ensure all work is performed in accordance with company safety standards and MSHA/KY State regulations.

- Collaborate with supervisors, operators, and other team members to prioritize maintenance tasks and coordinate equipment availability.

- Maintain tools, service truck, and work areas in a clean and organized condition.

- Contribute to a positive team environment by demonstrating professionalism, strong communication, and problem-solving skills.

Qualifications

- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical/vocational training in diesel mechanics preferred.

- Valid certifications in diesel mechanics or heavy equipment maintenance.

- Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience in heavy equipment repair and maintenance (mining or industrial environment preferred).

- Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, transmissions, electrical systems, and welding/fabrication.

- Must hold a valid driver's license; CDL is a plus.

- Ability to work independently and safely in a fast-paced outdoor environment under extreme weather conditions.

- Must be able to work well with other individuals-often sharing the workload with other mechanics.
