Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong mechanical knowledge and hands-on experience in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel engines and heavy equipment. This role requires proficiency in various mechanical systems, including hydraulics, transmissions, and air brakes. The Diesel Mechanic will work on a range of vehicles and machinery, ensuring they operate efficiently and safely.
- Diagnose and repair diesel engines, including Caterpillar and other heavy equipment.
- Perform routine maintenance on vehicles such as tractor-trailers, excavators, and farm machinery.
- Conduct automotive diagnostics using schematics to identify issues.
- Repair or replace components including transmissions, brakes, shocks & struts, and HVAC systems.
- Utilize hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment for repairs and fabrication tasks.
- Operate heavy equipment safely while performing maintenance tasks.
- Provide exceptional customer service by communicating effectively with clients regarding repairs and maintenance needs.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed and parts used.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure timely completion of repairs.
- Previous experience as a mechanic with a focus on diesel engines is essential.
- Dealership experience is preferred but not mandatory.
- Familiarity with automotive repair practices including electrical systems, alignment, suspension, and tire service.
- Experience in heavy lifting and working with industrial equipment is necessary.
- Knowledge of fabrication techniques is a plus.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail are required for effective diagnostics and repairs.
