The Supervisor Electric Systems Operation will train, direct and supervise the overall control/operations of the Electric System Operations area functions to include coordination of maintenance/construction operations and troubleshooting of malfunction system facilities (gate stations to substation including transmission and distribution circuits), with various departments; field employees
in the operation/inspection of electric distribution to maximize efficiency and minimize customer service interruptions by utilizing the Computer Aided Dispatch Electric System (CARES), Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition System (SCADA); create, review and revise NERC departmental operational procedures and other documentation; and other activities to meet Division goals
and objectives.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Plan and layout implementation steps of area work to included control/operation of the electric system; coordination of maintenance/construction operations and troubleshooting of malfunction electric system facilities with various departments; and field functions in the operation/inspection of electric system facilities (gate station to substations including transmission and distribution circuits) with various departments and large industrial customers. Prepare and/or verify various records and reports to include area budget, time reporting, system logs, and maintenance work orders, service/work calls, performance appraisal, provide engineering and planning personnel with loading data and recommend additional facilities and other specific reports for area supervisor.
Responsible for the safe work practices of employees and overall area operations including enforcement/adherence to MLGW's electric operating codes; ensuring safe/reliable switching of electric facilities and switching certification for employees; and maintaining a training program for system operators. Provide assistance to various customers and requesting parties. Stay abreast of Divisions policies/procedures/electric codes/ECS systems, laws/regulations, TVA power contracts, and up to date development in the field of systems operations. Operate Division vehicle, radio, computer hardware and software. Perform other duties as directed.
A valid driver's license from state of residence is required.
Associate degree in Electrical Engineering OR High School Diploma/General Education Development (GED) is required.
2 years of leadership experience is required. 4 - 6 years of experience in operating the electric system and dispatching of the electric power system,
including protective relaying with Associate degree OR 8 - 10 years of experience in operating the electric system and dispatching of the electric power
system, including protective relaying.
Must successfully complete NIMS Training within 1 year of entering job. Physical Demands: Requires sedentary work involving standing or walking for brief periods, exerting up to 20 pounds of force on a regular basis; and some dexterity in operating office equipment. Subject to traveling to work locations. Subject to the hazards of working in the proximity of energizing electrical equipment, electrical shocks/bums and carry/light lifting of books. Subject to 24-hour call.
