Mechanical Substation Technician Brazos Electric Power Cooperative-Krum, TX
Brazos Electric is looking for a skilled Mechanical Substation Technician to help keep our transmission system safe, reliable, and operating at peak performance. - Install, inspect, maintain, and repair substation equipment.
- Support outage restoration and perform shop repairs.
- Conduct safety tailboards and ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Maintain transformers, breakers, reclosers, regulators, and related equipment.
- Test insulating oil (dielectric, PCB, acidity) and assist with Doble testing.
- Process transformers for service—vacuum, oil fill, ratio tests, LTC inspections.
- Complete maintenance schedules, reports, records, and hazardous material documentation.
- Provide recommendations for repairs, replacements, and parts inventory needs.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 3+ years electrical or mechanical experience preferred.- Technical training in mechanical or electrical fields a plus.
- Utility/substation experience with 69kV, 138kV, or 345kV preferred.
- Ability to obtain a CDL (standard transmission) within 9 months.
- Must reside within a 45 minute response time to the BEPC location in Krum, TX
