Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Estimator to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for structural steel construction projects, ensuring that all aspects of the project are considered. This role requires a strong understanding of structural steel construction and the ability to analyze project specifications and drawings. The Estimator will collaborate closely with client's project managers/estimators and other stakeholders to deliver precise quantity take offs of material & labor associated with the structural steel scope.
- Analyze blueprints, specifications, and other documentation to prepare cost, materials, and labor estimates for structural steel construction projects.
- Utilize software tools such as Bluebeam, Excel and steel management software to create detailed estimates and manage project data.
- Conduct thorough market research to determine competitive pricing for materials and labor.
- Collaborate with project management/estimation teams to assess project scope and requirements.
- Negotiate contracts with suppliers and subcontractors to secure favorable quotes.
- Maintain organized records of estimates and related documents used in the preparation of the bids for future reference.
- Provide support during the bidding process by preparing RFI's to clarify incomplete information for the completion of the bid.
- Receive feedback from ongoing projects to ensure compliance with budgetary constraints and adjust future estimates as necessary.
- Proven experience in structural steel construction estimating or a related field.
- Proficiency in structural steel construction estimating software, particularly Bluebeam, Microsoft Excel, Tekla EPM or similar.
- Strong negotiation skills with the ability to communicate effectively with suppliers, vendors and team members.
- Excellent management skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Solid understanding of construction processes, materials, and pricing strategies.
- Ability to work under pressure while managing multiple tasks necessary to complete a full cost estimate of the structural steel scope.
- A degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Estimation or a related field is preferred but not mandatory.
