Fabrication Estimator

Job Overview:

We are seeking a skilled Metal Fabrication Estimator to join our team. The Metal Fabrication Estimator will be responsible for:

- Analyze customer Requests for Quotes (RFQs), blueprints, and specifications to determine project scope and material needs.

- Conduct takeoffs to accurately calculate material quantities, including sheet metal, fasteners, and finishes.

- Estimate labor costs based on project complexity, desired turnaround time, and required resources.

- Research and incorporate vendor pricing and lead times into the overall project cost.

- Prepare detailed and competitive quotes that meet customer requirements and company profit margins.

- Collaborate with sales, and fabrication manager to ensure clear communication and project understanding.

- Stay up-to-date on industry trends, material pricing, and fabrication techniques to optimize estimating processes.

- Maintain accurate records of quotes, estimates, and project data.

- Order/Request material buyouts

Qualifications:

- Minimum 2 years of experience in metal fabrication or a related field.

- Ability to prepare accurate and competitive bids.

- Strong understanding of sheet metal materials, gauges, and fabrication processes.

- Excellent knowledge of drawings and specifications.

- Experience with quoting and proposal writing is preferred.

- Meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.

- Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.

- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously

Experience:

- Proven experience as a Metal Fabricator or similar role

- Proficient in using tools such as saws, shears, and welding equipment

- Knowledge of different types of metal and their properties

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team

- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in work

Skills:

- Negotiation skills

- Cost control expertise

- SolidWorks or CAD is a plus

- Construction estimating knowledge

- Experience with ERP software

- Background in construction management

- Ability to build metal structures according to specifications

- Project management skills

- Strong negotiation abilities

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $23.00 - $30.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 – 45 per week
