Senior Steel Estimator

The Structural Steel Estimator reviews drawings, specs and contract documents provided by customers, owners, General Contractors to help assemble an accurate bid proposal and quote for all associated work for projects. Please consider joining our dynamic Estimating Team

Responsibilities:

- Reviews design drawings and specs for accuracy and completeness and assembles a proper and accurate quote for our clients.

- Assists in providing technical instructions and guidance for the PM Team and Detailers on what was quoted in the proposal.

- Maintains daily communication with Assist Project Managers, Project Manager, Sr. Project Manager, General Manager or Vice President on progress of areas of responsibility.

- They collaborate with other AF Steel departments (PM, APM, PC, Shop) to ensure equipment, man hours, planning is accurate.

- Gather all necessary buyout items. (3) per discipline

- Maintain and update market pricing.

- Help build and grow customer base.

- Maintain and follow up on bid log.

- Assist in updating Tekla, with shop and field labor hours, based on history.

- Help assistant PMs with change orders as needed.

Education/Training

High School Diploma or GED required. Training from an approved or accredited technical school in engineering or detailing/drafting is highly preferred.

Work Experience

Minimum of 5 years in related experience in the coordination of structural steel projects. Detailing experience highly preferred.

Specialized Knowledge

Ability to read and interpret design drawings and specs. General understanding and knowledge of basic drafting skills, 3D modeling software/Tekla practices, fabrication and erection standards, standard technical terminology, common structural steel practices, and drafting room procedures.

Software & Technology

MS Windows 10, MS Office 365; Office Word, Excel, and Outlook; Contract Manager, Trimble and Tekla software. Bluebeam applications.

Work Environment

This position is generally indoors in a climate-controlled office. However, frequent visitations to the outdoor plant facilities and project sites may be required.

Pay: $100,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
