Mesa Associates, Inc. is seeking a Structural Designer to work with other members of the civil & structural team to deliver projects of varying complexity and size for our fossil and hydropower generating clients.
Working in a team environment, daily tasks will include the design of additions and modifications to power generation related structural systems including:
- Concrete foundation design – rotating equipment, transformers, switchgear, MCCs, etc.
- Concrete anchorage design – cast-in-place & post-installed.
- Deep foundation and retaining wall design.
- Structural steel design – pipe bridges, pipe and cable tray supports, equipment support structures, elevated platforms, steel buildings, etc.
- Drawing package preparation – AutoCAD and/or MicroStation, Plant 3D.
- Well organized and self-motivated to complete tasks within agreed schedules.
- Creative with the ability to judge between alternate solutions to provide the optimal solution.
- Available to work overtime as necessary to meet project schedules and commitments.
- Available to travel out of town for project meetings and site visits.
- Safety consciousness and will strictly adhere to company and client safety standards.
- Able to legally work in the U.S.
- Work under the direction of engineering staff and engineering/design managers.
- Prepare and complete discipline designs and supporting documentation such as design criteria, drawings and specifications.
- Work closely with design team and other disciplines on multi-discipline projects.
- Perform technical and coordination checking/reviews of deliverables and other project documents.
- Manage personal task assignments, and adhere to project scope, schedule, and budget on all assigned tasks.
- Assist in resolution of construction issues, resolving problems and concerns in a timely manner.
The candidate must be self-motivated and have a strong desire to produce error free quality work. Minimal travel and site walk downs. Must have a willingness to work overtime when required. Demonstrated leadership qualities, excellent communication skills, detail oriented and works well with others. Possess good interpersonal skills to build client relations and work effectively in a team environment.
