The Structural Engineer provides structural analysis and documentation on prefabricated metal electrical control buildings and other structures. They ensure structures are durable and safe to suit their intended purpose.
- Perform structural calculations for vertical and lateral loads on steel and other material structural members
- Conduct wind and seismic analysis and provide design guidance to ensure code compliance
- Direct CAD designers in creating design documents for prefabricated metal buildings in accordance with current building codes, project requirements, and budget constraints
- Review and respond to Requests for Information (RFIs), submittals, and other construction-related documentation tied to structural design
- Support documentation efforts to assist customers with:
- Foundation design requirements
- Anchor bolt layouts
- Structural calculation packages needed for permitting
- Prepare clear and thorough technical reports and project documentation
- Develop designs using hot-rolled steel, cold-formed steel, and stainless-steel sheet metal structural components
- Additional Duties as Assigned
- Strong knowledge of the application of structural engineering principles in the design and analysis of metal buildings and other structures – including building materials, systems, wind, and seismic designs
- Knowledge in US building codes, including IBC, ASCE 7 8, AISC 360, and AISI S100
- Good understanding of IEEE compliance
- Good understanding of construction documents, including both drawings and technical specifications
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills - preferred
- Problem-solving skills – required
- Ability to manage multiple tasks to meet deadlines with attention to detail – required
- Ability to use and learn structural analysis software including RISA, 3D, CFS11 HILTI products
Bachelors degree in Civil, Structural, or Mechanical Engineering with an emphasis in structural design and analysis. At least 3 years of relevant experience is preferred.
