Our team is growing, and we're looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant with a strong focus on payroll to join our dynamic accounting department.
Key Responsibilities:
•Payroll Processing - Manage the timely and accurate bi-weekly payroll processing for all employees via Paychex. Ensure compliance with all relevant federal, state, and local wage and tax laws.
•Data Management - Maintain employee payroll records, including timekeeping data, wage rates, deductions, and fringe benefits. Ensure all data is up-to-date and properly documented.
•Collaboration - Work closely with the management team to monitor employee benefits, deductions, and other payroll-related issues. Collaborate with project managers to ensure accurate coding of hours and costs on jobs.
•Record Keeping - Maintain confidentiality of all payroll records and ensure record retention policies are followed in compliance with legal standards.
•Job Cost Recording – Generate and record payroll journal entries in Sage 100 accounting software. Track and apply wages to relevant projects when necessary.
•New Hire Onboarding – Send and collect information required when new employees are hired to maintain compliance and facilitate payroll.
•Travel Accommodations – Assist with staff travel accommodations including lodging, rental vehicles, and per diem payments.
•Support other general accounting functions as assigned.
Qualifications:
•Education - Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, HR, or a related field preferred. Relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
•Experience - Minimum of 2 years of experience in payroll processing, preferably in the construction industry.
•Technical Skills - Proficient in Paychex and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel. Sage 100 Contractor experience not necessary but preferred.
•Detail-Oriented - Strong attention to detail and analytical skills. Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.
•Organizational Skills - Excellent organizational and time-management abilities to handle multiple projects and deadlines efficiently.
•Communication - Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with employees and management.
