We are seeking a highly detail-oriented and self-driven Staff Accountant with strong experience in job cost accounting, work-in-progress (WIP) accruals, and revenue recognition/matching principle. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced, project-based environment, is organized, and comfortable working both independently and cross-functionally with project managers and contract administrators.
- Maintain and reconcile job cost accounting records; ensure all costs are coded and allocated correctly to projects
- Prepare monthly WIP schedules, analyze over/under billings, and coordinate adjustments with project teams
- Assist in revenue recognition in compliance with the matching principle and percentage-of-completion method
- Support contract administration including change orders, billing schedules, retention tracking, and compliance documents
- Collaborate with project managers to review job performance, cost variances, and margin analysis
- Reconcile general ledger accounts and prepare journal entries, accruals, and month-end close tasks
- Ensure accuracy of supporting documentation for invoicing and audit purposes
- Assist in annual audits and other special projects as assigned
- Must be able to type 70 WPM with 95% accuracy
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 2–5 years of experience in job cost or project-based accounting, preferably in construction, engineering, or similar industry
- Solid understanding of GAAP and revenue recognition principles
- Strong knowledge of WIP reporting, cost accruals, and project billing
- Experience with accounting software
- Highly proficient in Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, data validation)
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management skills
- Ability to work effectively under tight deadlines and manage multiple priorities
