Lumina is looking for a Staff Accountant to join our team in Maryland.
As a Staff Accountant, you’ll play a hands-on role in managing day-to-day accounting operations, supporting month-end close processes, and maintaining the accuracy of financial records. You’ll work closely with our accounting manager and senior accountants to reconcile accounts, process vendor bills, and contribute to financial reporting efforts.
In this role, you'll get to:
•Collaborate with the accounting team to compile, analyze, and reconcile financial data to support business operations
•Record, categorize, and reconcile daily financial transactions in QuickBooks Online
•Process and manage vendor bills using Bill.com; resolve billing discrepancies by working with internal teams and external vendors
•Maintain accurate vendor and customer records across platforms
•Assist in preparing journal entries and reconciling general ledger accounts
•Participate in the month-end close process, including account reconciliations and generating financial reports
•Support the Accounting Manager and senior team members in producing timely and accurate financial statements
•Prepare and maintain spreadsheets for internal and external reporting needs
•Assist with internal control documentation and help identify areas for process improvement
•Contribute to ad hoc accounting projects, including data analysis and system/process optimizations
•Perform general administrative duties to support accounting operations and ensure data integrity
On your first day, we'll expect you to have:
•Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field
•At least 1 year of accounting experience (internships or full-time roles in a professional environment)
•Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in financial reporting
•Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP
•Experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks Online, Bill.com, or similar tools)
•Working knowledge of GAAP and its application in day-to-day accounting tasks
•Strong mathematical and analytical skills
•Excellent organizational and time management skills
•Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
•Availability to work onsite at our Halethorpe, MD office
