Local real estate investment firm is seeking an enthusiastic team member with an interest in real estate and renovations. The Staff Accountant plays a vital role in supporting day-to-day accounting operations, preparing financials, and maintaining close oversight of project budgets.
List of Duties:
1). Daily Bookkeeping & Reconciliation: Maintain daily transaction logs, categorize bank feeds, and reconcile bank and credit card accounts monthly in QuickBooks.
2). Accounts Payable & Vendor Coordination: Process weekly payables, set up new vendors, coordinate 1099 documentation and filings, and manage draw requests and vendor communication (e.g., interest refunds).
3). Journal Entries & Property Accounting: Prepare JEs for property transactions, rent receivables, payroll liabilities, and depreciation; perform year-end reconciliations and internal audits.
4). Utility & Tax Payments: Set up and manage automatic and manual payments for utilities, property taxes, insurance, and other recurring bills; ensure timely updates in spreadsheets.
5). Financial Reporting & Budgeting: Prepare monthly financial reports, update Google Sheets, support budget tracking per property, and assist with CPA and tax-related requests.
6). Inventory, Renovation & Project Reporting: Track renovation costs, update inventory sheets, and send weekly project and renovation reports to property managers.
7). Licensing & Compliance Oversight: Verify contractor and vendor licenses, maintain theft prevention supplies, and perform miscellaneous admin tasks related to compliance.
8). QuickBooks & Payroll Integration: Manage accounts in QuickBooks, ensure expense categorization accuracy, and sync payroll data from Insperity.
9). Banking Operations: Deposit and track checks, set up wires, review/approve ACH payments, and manage customer/bank portal accounts.
10). Portal Management: Set up properties and schedule auto-payments (e.g., FCI portal, SDGE, City of San Diego); ensure monthly interest payments are verified.
