The Company is seeking a hands-on Senior Analyst of Corporate Accounting, with a focus on project accounting. This role’s primary focus will be adding as much value as possible to the accounting department through the overview and accounting of capital projects and the AFE (Authorization for Expenditure) process. This will entail assessing project costs, tracking status, performing monthly accounting tasks, and collaborating with various departments. Reporting to the Manager of Corporate Accounting, the successful candidate must be versatile and proactive with a solid work ethic.
This position is based at the HQ office (Downtown) and minimal travel is required. This position requires the incumbent to hold a valid, unexpired driver license at all times in order to perform the essential functions of the job.
- Manage the full lifecycle accounting for capital projects, from project initiation through completion and capitalization
- Prepare monthly and quarterly project cost journal entries. Monitor and review project costs, validating accuracy of charges and ensuring appropriate accruals
- Review AFEs (Authorizations for Expenditure) to understand project scope, executed agreements, approved budget, the timing of cost expenditure to ensure proper accounting treatment and impacts to expected cashflows
- Interface with Project Business Partners to obtain status and cost updates to prepare monthly reporting to Accounting Management
- Assist project teams in setting up and maintaining WBS (Work Breakdown Structure) codes, ensuring accurate cost tracking and reporting
- Assisting with fixed assets creation and assisting with putting completed projects into service for fixed assets creation
- Perform monthly and quarterly balance sheet reconciliations for assigned accounts
- Collaborate with the Company’s CPG (Corporate Project Governance) department for project analysis, cost reports, and any initiatives as needed
- Prepare and maintain desk procedures and process narratives, continuously seeking ways to streamline and enhance accuracy and documentation
- Assist with quarterly review and year-end audits, including preparing PBC schedules and providing information at auditor’s request
- Collaborate with internal departments to research and resolve accounting matters in alignment with GAAP best practices
- Contribute to ad hoc projects, applying analytical skills and a mindset of process optimization to enhance accounting operations
- Bachelor’s Degree preferably in Finance or Accounting
- 3-5 Years of experience in Corporate Accounting
- CPA or progress toward certification preferred
- Experience reviewing AFEs, setting up WBS codes, and tracking project costs preferred
- Strong working knowledge of GAAP accounting and general ledger activities. Project accounting concepts a plus
- Experience with SAP and/or Blackline a plus
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and self-motivated with a demonstrated ability to identify and implement process improvements
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and adapt to shifting priorities
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
- Knowledge of the energy industry a plus

Support the policies, efforts, and programs of Freeport LNG Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) Management System. Actively participate in the HSE Management System Policies. Ensure that HSE concerns are given priority in all activities completed within their area of responsibility. Implement routine inspections to ensure safe operating conditions.
