Hampton Tedder Electric currently has an opening for a long-term SQL Developer. This position will provide Quickbase application development and support for all divisions of our large family company. Quickbase is a low-code, cloud data management platform of which Hampton Tedder is a customer. This position is for in-house support; Hampton Tedder is not looking for a consultant in this role.
We are looking for individuals with previous experience using Quickbase, SQL, Access, or other relational database management software (RDBMS). You will be tasked with building data structures and web forms within the Quickbase online platform. This position requires attention to detail, organization, efficiency, and the ability to work independently. Good interpersonal skills are a must: you will be collaborating with members from all internal teams and divisions at various levels of management, and with various levels of computer proficiency, to gather their requirements and take feedback. This position will provide you with a rewarding blend of technical challenges and social connection.
QuickBase: None to Expert. Will train on the job.
Other RDBMS: Intermediate to Expert. Understand 1:n and n:n relationships, primary keys, foreign keys/references.
Excel: Intermediate to Expert. Ability to transform data from a variety of formats and prepare it for import/export.
Web Development: Intermediate to Expert. HTML and CSS are used to create custom layouts and styled data. Javascript is used to create custom webpages to provide features beyond Quickbase's low-code features. Javascript code fetches data over an authenticated JSON API.
iOS Development: None to Beginner. There may be opportunities to create custom apps for iPhone / iPad to handle requirements that Quickbase cannot meet. This is currently not a large portion of the job
- Build and customize applications using Quickbase’s low-code environment.
- Extend functionality with custom HTML, CSS, and JavaScript when needed.
- Work closely with various department heads and app users to gather requirements and deliver solutions.
- Provide training and technical support to end users.
- Document processes, workflows, and customizations.

- Ability to follow detailed direction and meet strict deadlines.
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Typing speed 50+ WPM.Applicant must be willing to travel to various office and field locations as needed. Some extended travel for specific projects may be necessary.
