Job Summary:
The Software Developer focuses on scripting, software development, and digital infrastructure to enable automation and continuous improvement in data collection, querying, scripting, and operations across RNWBL’s renewable energy assets. This role supports SCADA, Performance Engineering, and Asset Management by developing tools for auditing, reporting, and automation, maintaining databases, and managing hardware specifications and integrations. The developer will collaborate with teams to enhance efficiency in solar, wind, and BESS operations without performing direct analytics, which are handled by the Performance Engineering team.
- Develop scripts and APIs (Python) to interface with work orders and logs for auditing operations, reporting deficiencies, managing/tracking operations, and performing monthly compliance assessments.
- Maintain scripts for reporting, queries, dashboards, and historical data pipelines to enable automation and continuous improvement.
- Interface with 3rd party APIs to improve workflows and automate processes.
- Create, Manage, and Maintain internal tools to support operational efforts of Control Room, Performance Engineering, and Asset Management.
- Manage specifications, ordering, and installation of servers, firewalls, and ISPs for data integration.
- Coordinate with network services providers to integrate with plants and provide access to the ROCC/Engineering for remote event data collection, including establishing remote access to substation relays upon plant trips.
- Assist with plant onboarding: update KPI methods, DC circuit mapping, upload metadata to databases.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field required.
- Proven experience in software development, scripting, and data infrastructure in industrial or energy sectors.
- Familiarity with renewable energy data (solar, wind, BESS) and tools like CMMS/ERP.
- Proficiency in Python, SQL, Excel, PowerBI; experience with APIs, databases, and dashboards.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with attention to detail in automation and integration.
- Effective communication and ability to collaborate cross-functionally.
- Any industry-relevant certification (e.g., Python and/or SQL) is a plus.
