The Solar Service Manager is responsible for leading service operations within their assignedTexas region. This role oversees service intake, technician coordination, troubleshootingescalation, and customer communication for residential solar systems.
The Service Manager will manage two field technicians, coordinate service calls, and ensure that all service requests are resolved efficiently while delivering a high-quality customer experience.
This role is ideal for someone who has deep solar troubleshooting experience and enjoys solvingcomplex system issues while building a high-performing service team
- Manage all incoming solar service request within your assigned region
- Diagnose and traige issues including inverter failures, monitoring issues, wiring faults, and production problems.
- Assign and schedule service calls to field technicians.
- Ensure efficient routing and technician utilization.
- Track service tickets from intake through resolution.
- Maintain high service completion rates and response times.
- Manage 2 solar technicians within your region
- Provide troubleshooting guidance and escalation support
- Ensure technicians are properly scheduled and equipped
- Monitor technician productivity and quality of work
- Maintain weekly service quotas and performance targets
- Serve as the primary point of contact for homeowners during service requests.
- Provide clear communication regarding service timelines and findings.
- Help rebuild trust with homeowners whose original installers are no longer available.
- Ensure customers receive detailed explanations of system issues and repairs.
- Schedule and manage annual Operations & Maintenance (O&M)
- Coordinate with technicians to perform system diagnostics, safety checks, and performance reviews.
- Provide homeowners with inspection reports and system performance updates.
- Maintain accurate records of service tickets and resolutions.
- Track technician performance and service metrics.
- Generate service activity reports for leadership
- Identify recurring system issues and recommend improvements.
Each Service Manager is responsible for maintaining minimum weekly service quotas for their region.
- Managing technician schedules to meet service demand.
- Ensuring minimum completed service visits per week.
- Driving efficient service resolution.
- Maintaining high customer satisfaction.Performance bonuses are paid for exceeding service quotas.
- 10+ years experience in the solar industry - 5+ years solar troubleshooting experience (inverters, monitoring systems, electrical faults, production issues)
- Experience managing field technicians or service teams
- Strong understanding of residential solar systems and components
- Excellent problem-solving and diagnostic abilities
- Strong customer communication skills
- Experience with service management or CRM systems
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
Compensation Base Salary: $24,000 per yearCommission / Performance Pay: $65,000 – $80,000 per year
Total compensation is based on service volume, technician productivity, and service quotasachieved. Top performers can exceed target earnings through bonuses.
