Solar & Energy Storage Service Technician (Part-Time / Independent)

Position Overview

Hooked On Solar is seeking a skilled and reliable Service Technician to support ongoing service, troubleshooting, and commissioning work for commercial solar and energy storage systems throughout Southern California.

This role is ideal for an experienced technician who can work independently in the field, manage their own schedule, and deliver high-quality service with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities

- Perform diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repairs on commercial solar PV and energy storage systems (ESS)

- Conduct system testing, commissioning, and re-commissioning

- Identify and resolve electrical and system performance issues

- Complete service documentation, reports, and site notes accurately and promptly

- Communicate clearly with internal team regarding system status and findings

- Ensure all work is performed in compliance with applicable codes, safety standards, and company expectations

Qualifications

- Experience working with commercial solar and/or energy storage systems (ESS)

- Strong understanding of electrical systems, inverters, and battery technologies

- Ability to work independently and manage field service calls with minimal oversight

- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

- Strong communication skills

- Must have a reliable personal vehicle and valid driver’s license

- Ability to travel throughout Southern California (approx. Service Area - Ventura to San Diego)

Preferred (Not Required)

- NABCEP (North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners) Certification

Pay Range: $35 - 40 per hour

Pay: $35.00 - $40.00 per hour
