Job Summary:
NAES is seeking a Site Safety Superintendent for a high-profile infrastructure project in New Orleans. This role will support the installation and commissioning of a new SOLAR turbine and associated electrical systems for a critical infrastructure project. Reporting to the Commissioning Manager, the Site Safety Superintendent will oversee contractor safety compliance, promote a culture of safety on site, and ensure all work is conducted in accordance with OSHA regulations, owner policies, and project requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
•Serve as the on-site safety representative overseeing daily safety operations and compliance.
•Conduct safety orientations, toolbox talks, and job hazard analyses (JHAs) for all site activities.
•Enforce safe work practices and immediately address any unsafe conditions or behaviors.
•Maintain and track required safety documentation, including permits, inspections, and training records.
•Coordinate with EPC safety representatives and ensure contractor alignment with site-specific safety protocols.
•Support and lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation.
•Ensure proper use and maintenance of PPE and verify equipment safety compliance.
•Act as liaison between the owner, contractors, and local authorities to uphold project safety standards.
Job Requirements:
•Strong background in turbine and electrical commissioning project safety.
•Experience managing safety in active construction and commissioning environments.
•Familiarity with OSHA, NFPA 70E, and utility-grade electrical system safety protocols.
•Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills, particularly in high-visibility or public-facing projects
•Proficiency in documenting and reporting safety incidents and trends.
Physical Requirements:
•Ability to walk, climb ladders, bend, kneel, lift (up to 50 lbs), and work in varying weather and noise conditions typical of a construction and commissioning site.
Education / Experience:
•High school diploma required; bachelor’s degree in safety, engineering, or construction management preferred.
•Minimum of 15 years of construction safety experience, including turbine or electrical commissioning projects.
•OSHA 30 required; OSHA 510 or CHST preferred.
