Golden Vertex Corp is a mining company based in Bullhead City, AZ. The Moss Mine Complex is a pressure metal, open pit surface mine specializing in gold/silver extraction. Golden Vertex was recently acquired by new ownership (Mako Mining Corp) and is under new management. The Company operates the Moss Mine located in Mohave County in northwestern Arizona, approximately a one hour and a half drive south of Las Vegas, Nevada. Golden Vertex Corp is currently seeking a qualified person for the position of Fire Assay for our Moss Mine project.
Overview
The Mine Safety Manager is responsible for leading and managing the Health & Safety programs at the Moss Mine Complex. This role ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and promotes a culture of safety throughout the organization. The Safety Manager will work closely with operations, maintenance, environmental, and human resources departments to implement the best practices and continuously improve safety performance.
Safety Manager Responsibilities
•Develop, implement, and maintain site-wide safety policies, procedures, and training programs in compliance with MSHA (Mine Safety and Health Administration) regulations.
•Lead and promote a culture of safety excellence and proactive risk management.
•Conduct regular safety inspections, audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations.
•Serve as the primary liaison with MSHA and other regulatory agencies; ensure proper reporting and documentation of safety activities and incidents.
•Facilitate employee safety training programs including new hire orientations, task training, emergency response, and hazard recognition.
•Analyze safety trends and metrics to identify opportunities for improvement and track progress against safety goals.
•Develop and lead emergency response preparedness and drills.
•Ensure proper use, maintenance, and availability of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment).
•Collaborate with department leaders to ensure safety policies are effectively communicated and followed across all work areas. Manage site safety communications including toolbox talks, safety bulletins, and incident alerts.
•Participate in the development of mine operating plans and construction projects to ensure safety considerations are integrated from planning through execution.
Requirements
•Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, or related field preferred.
•Minimum 5 years of experience in safety management, with at least 3 years in mining or heavy industrial operations.
•Strong knowledge of MSHA regulations and mine safety practices.
•Demonstrated experience in conducting incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
•Professional certification (e.g., CMSP, CSP, CHST) is an asset.
•Excellent communication, training, and interpersonal skills.
•Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and safety management systems.
•Ability to work in field conditions and lead by example.
