Job Title: Process Engineer – Long Lake (Relocation to Ft. McMurray, AB)
This position is classified as a Safety-Sensitive Position. You will be working a 14 on – 14 off shift, days only (subject to change) with a period weekend on-call requirement.
The Process Engineer will be part of the Site Technical team in the Long Lake Operations Group. The successful candidate is responsible for process monitoring, process optimization, troubleshooting and project development with the Long Lake and K1A process areas.
The successful candidate will report to the Sr Mgr – Production Engineering & Process Engineering.
· Responsible for daily process monitoring and optimization
· Collaborate with the operations team on process adjustments to optimize plant equipment operations
· Responsible for providing crucial support for construction and engineering projects. Their main role is to inspect the equipment, facilities and any other aspect of an engineering project to ensure that it has been designed and installed correctly. Also, provide engineering and technical support to projects to ensure that it is completed within regulation within the budget
· Develop and maintain proactive monitoring tools of the units to predict and support long-term plans
· Maintain a focused approach in resolving various operational issues/bottlenecks for the reliable operation of the facility as well as ramp up
· Support plant reliability, maintenance, outage and turnaround teams by providing sound technical advice as a process engineer on site
· Participate in daily operations meeting. Provide technical support for the operations group to troubleshoot operations
· Conduct incident investigations and ensure findings are well documented and well communicated
· Liaise with multidiscipline engineers, external consultants and engineering contractors for basic and detailed engineering of projects
· Ensure design and project implementation conform with design intent, specifications and standard practices
· Maintain the integrity of the facility PSI information. Lead/participate in PSM activities (MOC, PHA/HAZOP, PSSR etc.)
· Assist in the development and review of all the standard process engineering deliverables like design basis, process design criteria, HMB, PFDs and P&IDs, among various others.
· Develop/Review process simulations (HYSYS and other process simulators) and heat/material balance.
· Ensure that process engineering deliverables are met in a timely fashion (SAGD and/or Upgrader)
· Provide support to the business planning group for monthly planning, statutory compliance, etc.

· Bachelor's degree in Engineering and eligible for professional registration with APEGA
· Minimum of 5 years of process engineering site experience in SAGD and/or refinery/upgrader environment. A combination of operations and EPC environment would be acceptable
o Previous experience in Inlet treating, de-oiling, water treatment, steam generation, or upgrading will be considered an asset.
· Excellent interpersonal skills matched with hands on approach to solving problems;
· Working knowledge of all relevant codes, and standards
· Superior analytical, planning and execution capabilities and the ability to develop timely effective solutions
· Ability to work in an integrated team atmosphere but also can work independently
· Computer skills in word processing, spreadsheets, e-mail programs, document control and drawing management systems
· Commitment to the successful introduction of work processes; a safety-first culture; and adherence to Safe Work Practices and Corporate Policy
· Must be legally permitted to work in Canada
