What you will do:
POSITION SUMMARY
The Process Engineer is responsible for providing problem solving leadership to the organization, understanding and working to established quality system registration requirements, procedures and objectives. He/she will monitor key measurement data for trend analysis, make suggestions for improvement, develop and implement corrective action plans.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES
•Develop designs of wastewater systems
•Develop process models, biological and chemical calculations, and the design of advanced conveyance and treatment equipment
•Evaluate wastewater quality, develop conceptual designs, perform calculations and create process design drawings
•Develop process flow diagrams, mass and material balances and piping and instrumentation diagrams
•Size piping and pumping system
•Prepare technical specifications for process equipment, piping, and pumps
•Perform hydraulic computations
•Assist the customer engineer with permit application preparation
•Identify, prepare and participate in presenting proposals and cost estimates to prospective clients
•Perform process calculations required for the proper operation of equipment, including chemical dosage rates; biological loading; clarifier operation; sludge generation and wasting rates
•Coordinate engineering design with site and construction personnel and equipment suppliers as required
•Coordinate process engineering activities with technical design engineering and project and operations management and other project team members
•Develop and foster relationships with equipment sales representatives, treatment facility operators, regulators and other industry insiders
•Seek out & consider new treatment processes and technologies
•Lead problem solving activities for internal and external issues, implement appropriate countermeasures, and report in appropriate format.
•Lead and assist Quality Management with internal containment activity. Understand the current process state, identify efficiency/improvement opportunities, and then leading cross-functional team members to drive process improvements tied to Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) utilizing Lean principles.
•Develop inspection and process control requirements.
•Analyze engineering and customer specification and monitor operational processes to develop quality controls methods, practices, and process documentation Investigate causes of Quality costs and initiate corrective action. Work with Procurement Department to develop a solid base of certified suppliers.
•Organize and conduct product quality audits to assure components and completed machines comply with applicable specifications and regulations.
•Develop and implement procedures to be used by Inspection personnel.
•Develop, write, and maintain process specific documentation including; control plans, PFMEAs, Operator Work Instructions, Preventative Maintenance Plans, Process Sheet.
•Train and mentor Manufacturing Technicians, Associates and Coaches in process and product related matters.
Requirements:
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree, Masters Degree preferred, area of study: Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering or Engineering Technology
Specialized Training:
Certifications: Current Professional Engineering License is preferred
Experience:
•5-10 years’ of experience involving the design of wastewater treatment systems and processes (with an emphasis in MBR, MBBR, UV)
•Proven experience to lead project design teams
•Expertise in computer modeling of wastewater processes, hydraulic design software, EPA regulations and knowledge of the California Water Boards regulations
•Software/Applications: Intermediate Computer Knowledge: Able to create, use, navigate and perform reports at an Intermediate level of proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
•Job-Specific Software: Basic ability to create, use and retrieve project-related information from ERP systems, scheduling software, CRM solutions (Salesforce preferred), etc. Experience with AutoCAD is required.
•Experience with construction and/or operation of a wastewater treatment facility is desired.
•Must be an action-oriented, results-minded leader
•Must have motivational skills and a strong sense of urgency to meet Customer commitments in a timely and "above expectations" manner
•Ability to work together as a team.
•Ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with coworkers is required.
•Telecommuting and/or Flexible Work Schedule: Yes, with manager Approval
•Ability to travel 30-40% of the time
