Job Summary

AEP is seeking a Civil Engineer with six (6) or more years of civil site engineering experience and leadership skills that are searching for an opportunity to join the Civil / Geotechnical Engineering (CGE) group at American Electric Power (AEP) in Tulsa, OK. Civil Engineer - Site / Land Development (Sr - Prin):

Qualified candidates shall possess knowledge of civil site engineering principles through education and/or demonstrated project experience related to:

- site grading

- stormwater management

- drainage design/analysis

- roadway design

- retaining walls

- erosion and sediment control

- permitting

- surveying

Knowledge and/or experience using AutoCAD and Civil3D software is strongly preferred.

Successful candidates will possess the proven ability to assess and recommend best case civil engineering solutions and collaborate with higher level non-civil engineers and other project stakeholders in solving civil engineering related challenges in consideration of safety, performance, cost, constructability, risk, and liability.

Travel (~10%) is required for this position and will consist of trips to the field to diagnose civil engineering issues related to electric transmission lines and substations. Field assignments are generally within a 5-hour driving distance of the assigned office location. Hours are Monday through Friday, 8 hours per day. Some OT may be required, as approved.

Compensation: $115,000-$155,000

- This vacancy is posted in a range. The minimum requirements below are for Engineer Sr. Minimum requirements increase with each grade. The final grade and compensation offered will be determined based on the successful candidate's education, experience, and relevant skills.

Minimum Requirements:

Engineer Sr ($115,000 - $135,000):

Has typically acquired six (6) or more years of related engineering experience along with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering in a program accredited by ABET; or six (6) years of related engineering experience along with a master’s or PhD in Civil Engineering from a program accredited by ABET.

Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) in any U.S. state or Puerto Rico is required for this position unless approval to waive this requirement is given by the organization's EVP.

Acceptable education alternatives are:

Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering (non-ABET), plus a Professional Engineers (PE) license in any state of the U.S. OR

Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering (non-ABET) plus a Master's degree or PhD in Civil Engineering from a university with an ABET accredited Bachelor's program.

- ABET - Engineering Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology.

Confirmation is required to ensure the PE obtained in Puerto Rico aligns with NCEES standards.

ABET accredited program requirement may be waived at the discretion of VP or Executive level and above based on relevant qualifications and experience.
