Summary Of The Role
Sr Engineer, Civil & Structural is responsible for oversight of the EPC contractor in the execution of the RGLNG project, from detailed design through construction and into commissioning. The position will interface closely with the EPC contractor, ensuring execution of all Civil and Structural design and installation activities are performed to specification and are on schedule, meeting the necessary quality standards.
This position is based in Houston, TX but will require mobilization to the RGLNG site in Brownsville, TX to support construction, commissioning and startup. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Collaborates with the Next Decade Engineering team to ensure that Next Decade facilities are designed to be safe, fit-for-purpose, and meet the specified operational standards.
- Contributes to design studies, technical problem-solving, report generation, and support for regulatory submissions for future projects
- Reviews EPC contractor deliverables including engineering studies, reports, data sheets, design bases, specifications, engineering calculations, vendor documents, and scopes of work.
- Oversee the engineering phases for civil site development, including design, scheduling, and coordination for site layout, grading, drainage, and paving
- Oversee the EPC contractor's delivery of civil and structural design and installation, ensuring strict compliance with project standards, specifications, and FEED design
- Provides technical assurance for the civil and structural scope of work, validating designs and installations against contractual and project requirements
- Support the review and approval of technical queries and deviation requests for engineering scopes
- Interfaces with the regulatory team and provides technical support for the FERC regulatory process.
- Participates in process safety reviews, Independent Project Reviews, Cold Eyes Reviews, Constructability Assessments, 3D Model Reviews and Value Improvement Workshops
- Supports the development of key project philosophy and design criteria documents.
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering
- 12+ years' experience of Civil/Structural Engineering- Experience working in a major oil and gas project environment, having held a key role with either the EPC contractor or the owner/client during execution
- Proficient with understanding and interpretation of the results of specialized design software (e.g., AutoCAD, STAAD Pro) for modeling, analysis, and producing technical drawings
- Well-versed in international codes and standards relevant to the discipline
- Familiarity with local regulations (Cameron County)
- Must be able to wear all necessary PPE equipment to perform job functions
- Operates in a complex construction environment
- Exposure to indoor and outdoor weather conditions
- Not necessarily protected from weather and temperature changes. Possible exposure to hot, cold, wet, humid, or windy weather conditions
- Exposure to moving mechanical parts and electrical circuits
- Exposure to constant or intermittent sounds of a pitch level sufficient to cause marked distraction
- Routinely uses standard office and field communications equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers w/scanner and fax, and radios
