About This Job
Position Summary:
LEEM is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Metal Shop Maintenance Technician to support the daily upkeep and maintenance of our metal fabrication facility in Ramsey, NJ. This position plays a key role in ensuring the shop is safe, clean, and operating efficiently in compliance with OSHA standards.
Key Responsibilities:
•
Perform daily cleaning and maintenance of the metal shop floor, ensuring all work areas are safe and free of debris.
•
Sweep and maintain floors, clean dust from machinery, and sanitize shared spaces (including the employee café).
•
Conduct light building maintenance, including addressing leaks, checking, and maintaining fans and exhaust systems.
•
Ensure the exterior of the shop is maintained, including walkways and entrances.
•
Perform light preventative maintenance on shop equipment and machinery to ensure proper operation and minimize downtime.
•
Report any mechanical issues to the supervisor and coordinate with vendors or service providers as needed.
•
Clean out material bins and recycle scraps and materials appropriately in coordination with approved vendors.
•
Maintain all PPE (safety glasses & gloves), respirators, first aid kits, fire extinguishers.
•
Conduct regular walk-throughs to identify and resolve any safety or maintenance issues.
•
Support the shop in adhering to safety protocols and regulations.
Qualifications:
•
Prior experience in shop or facility maintenance preferred.
•
Basic understanding of mechanical systems and light equipment maintenance.
•
Strong vendor management experience.
•
Ability to lift to 50 lbs. and perform physical tasks throughout the day.
•
Problem solving skills and attention to detail.
•
Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.
•
Familiarity with OSHA safety standards is a plus.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $19.00 - $25.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
